It’s Deutschland, not Germany.

Re: Will Russia invade the Ukraine?
Thanks. Almost unbelievably, it auto-completed as that stupid spelling. Now I can’t make it do it.
Am I going nuts, or “Putinesque,” as we now call it?
Re: Will Russia invade the Ukraine?
For those who do not have Netflix, they have decided to put this documentary on YouTube for free. The Ukrainians have certainly gone through hell over the years. I remember watching the events as it happened at the time.
As for today, should the Russians subjugate the people the Russians had best prepare themselves for years of insurgency.
Subs included.

As Funky said a while back, we need an 'out' for Putin in which he can save some face and not do too much damage. I'm struggling to see that right now.

Also it's a concern he did similar things in Syria and 'we' worried less because they are further away and brown. See the racism inherent in our system. And that includes you sir, yes you, you are a racist. This forum is particularly bad for it with its bias towards separatism, the toxic elderly and small time tories.

Aren't you off that way shortly? Can you handle a concealed weapon in a high-stress situation? Key is to draw, aim and shoot in one smooth motion. Then move and shoot, move and shoot, move and shoot. A double tap to the head or in the central line and he's going down.

Face saving will be very difficult now, he's shown the whole world the Russian military is lacking and he's shown Russians he's happy to take them to another cold War. China is starting to lean on him with Chinese state backed banks are refusing to lend to Russia.Asian Boss wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 8:43 pm As Funky said a while back, we need an 'out' for Putin in which he can save some face and not do too much damage. Russian state media can only do so much, they can't disguise that most of the world is shunning them.

Re: Will Russia invade the Ukraine?
Dunno about face saving, he's now said that sanctions are akin to an act of war and singled the UK out for criticism. (Probably as a proxy for the USA, which he can't really threaten so much and we're easier to pick off than the whole of the EU). Looks like he's doubling down, better hope the war stays cold.

Re: Will Russia invade the Ukraine?
Russia can beat the Ukraine in a war, even if it costs them blood and treasure and leads to decades of misery.
Russia can’t beat NATO in a fight.

But it would be a Pyrrhic victory.

Re: Will Russia invade the Ukraine?
It’s too late for that, Putins now backed himself into a corner. The war is grinding on, the RA are failing miserably in that respect, it’s making him look weak to the outside world and his “allies” are quietly distancing themselves as sanctions bite. I hope he’s deposed by internal power struggles but his increasing angst against the West will lead to a rash decision I fear.
But you have to stand up to bully’s so it’s Catch 22.
I’m old enough to remember Threads, When the wind blows and The Day After and this is just the sort of scenario that lead to them.
