New bike day.... the not so new one back in the garage. (pedal content)

In a slightly quirky twist of fate, this seems to be coming back today.

My old Whyte T-130. It's condition is average.... the dropper post barely works, but apart from that, it's good to go.he

With it comes the option for a more trailsy bike for the lad to use in summer and on bigger days out than the DH bike is likely to ride.

I've ridden it, but he's not sat on it for many years, so will be interesting to see how it sizes up for him.

I could arguably sell the T-130 on and keep the Sworks (Stealth advert, it's £900), but i'm not sure a 13 year old having an Sworks and a DH bike is quite right lol. But even if we do keep the Sworks, it would be going by the end of this year and arguably we'll then still need something like the T-130 for the longer days out.

The T-130 hasn't had a hard life since i last owned it, but it's not exactly been loved.. However any work needed has been done by me, so i know where it is and where it's up to. It'll do him fine, or at a push, as a spare bike for me.

Tell it’s not new but you just polished it!😂

NAh that was an old picture.

That's how it now looks. Put a shorter stem on it, sorted a few bolts that needed tidying up and a new thread sorting on it. Done the shock and fork pressures and rebound.... The boy approves, he likes it at this stage.

I'd still say the reverb needs looking at if i'm being picky... but it's far from urgent. Everything else is golden.

This now is back with us but i'm not convinced the lad is massively feeling it. He's only done a couple of short tests on it as he's been getting used to the GT bike instead but with the limited feedback i get it's more "oh, it does.... and oh i don't like the way" rather than "yeah that's brilliant"

now he's not said outright that he hates it or doesn't want to ride it... but i'm not seeing much in the way of inclination. So i must admit my ebay fingers are getting a little jittery in terms of 'something else'

The odds are that at some stage we'll head and do the odd Enduro still and i'd like him to actually like the bike...

But as to 'what' I don't really know.

My first thoughts were something like the G170 but buying the recent Fuel 9.8 showed me that the G170 is heavy and sluggish... So the 'what' i don't really know yet. Something light and fast though is the current thoughts.

The Fuel EX is a tool. Loved mine but looking for steeper and steeper downhills meant I'd run out of puff before getting to the top so had to walk. Got bored with the walking pushing the bike uphill so now have a Trek Rail 2022. Can now get up the hills no probs (of course) and although the Rail is a lot heavier (roughly 25kg vs 15kg for the Fuel EX) the Rail's longer wheelbase compensates (based on the Trek Slash). Have used shorter forks and increased shock (upgraded with Megneg) sag which balances the shorter forks (Pike Ultimate 150mm).

Gimme a 15kg eBike Fuel EX pretty please. 8-) And before anyone recommends the e-Caliber I do want mucho suspension travel.

This is now sold, again.

In 4+ years I bought it for £900, sold it for £850, bought it back in px for £600 ish and sold it for £750. I think it's done ok has the orange thing.

It went to Morzine, went to bpw and did ok in honesty.

End of an era.
