Am I cursed

Post by formula400 »

So after getting the MT07 back from Novembers incident (car reversing into me outside work) I got it back 5 days ago, did not ride, left it outside my house, went out for a family day and got back, bike was pointing a different direction and handle bar was covered in mud, Neighbor clipped it whilst turning and knocked it over, very apologetic, they will pay for it to be fixed at my local Yamaha dealer, needs new engine case, water pump cover, indicators, tail fairing, tank cover and a few other bits, in total £1134. But a dam slight cheaper than going through insurance.

I seem to have no luck at all with bikes.

Obviously the bike is jinxed. Sell it and buy a Honda.

Seriously, that is a bummer.

That's a shitter, but maybe you need to look at where it's parked.
It's good you are getting it fixed, that part is positive.

When my sister and I went to be with my Da for his final hours, she left her car parked and we drove in my wagon. When we got back someone had stuffed into the front of her car so hard the bodywork was right against the front wheel. I had to put my back into it to get it drivable. There's no way the other driver wouldn't have known what they did.

it was on my garden path, front wheel was over hanging, no reason what so ever for a car to be that close to my house, plus it sticks out like a sore thumb,

Costly mistake for the neighbour. Similar happened to my friend many years ago, sadly for him it was a write off due to the damage to the frame.

That's pretty bad luck. Having said that, my relationship with a neighbour nearly became terminal after she hit my TMax for the second time, (quite) a few years back. And the Pan was hit while parked in the road.

Bad luck to have it knocked over on your own path.

I lost count of the number of times I had a bike knocked over as a courier. Crash bars essential for that job! And not cos I fell off much.

One occasion, I'd just pulled up into a big gap and was still getting something out of the top box when a driver reversed back about 15 yards - I suspect he was looking at the gap on the other side of the road to do a u turn. Knocked the bike out from under my hand!

On another occasion, I was just walking back to the bike when a huge Yank Tank started reversing into the bike and pushing it backwards on the side stand. I couldn't think of anything else to do than kick the rear wing of the car. The woman promptly wound her window up and drove off...

...which was a stroke of luck as the MX bike boot had just put a huge dent in the bodywork!

Oddly, in all the years I parked on the road, I never had a bike knocked over!

Hope they spring for the repairs. Most people think "it's only a bike, it'll be fine".
