At those prices it'd be nice to hear a few IRL first. Imagine dropping £800+ and finding it it drones and rasps like mad!

Right, we have a final answer that I'm happy with. Shared a few private messages with a guy in the US who does this for a living and does it on xsr exhausts too.

http://www.hi-speccoatings.co.uk/

This place with blast it then coat with Cerakote which is the stuff the guys in the US use. All for £120. So I'll pick a day next week as I'm off work and shoot over there, maybe taking in Swinley or something on the way back home.

If it's not brilliant, then it's cost me £120, meh, I can live with that

It might not be the biggest, but it's the only one I post on, so it must be the best!

I only spoke to them earlier. I've emailed a couple of questions tonight as I got the impression they can't cure it on site, so I need that answering as to how it's done at home.
Also found another place even closer, https://www.spartanrefinishing.com

So sane question sent there too

In Lamb Chops Hypermotard refresh series he had something Cerakoted. Can't remember what though! Might be worth a butchers at the finish and his comments

Edit: It'll be in the vid marked cerakoted parts!

Moving on from the exhaust anyway.

Yesterday i made a change which some may think is a bit WTF... :eh:

I removed the Brembo SA pads and fitted standard pads. The Brembos are a bit TOO good if you ask me, a bit too sharp, harsh, effective, whatever term you want to use, they just bite too much i think. So they've been whipped out and replaced.
I'm going to take it out for a ride at lunch today as it's due to be sunny and the wife and boy are off out.

I can get the back wheel waggling in the air on standard pads.
Never gone on track with it so not done repeated hard braking , but i can't find anything wrong with the standard pads tbh.

Generally it's just 'something i do' I always fit the Brembo SAs to all bikes because they're exceptional and give incredible performance on bikes... The 690 was a beast on the brakes, the ZX6 is as good as anything i've ever ridden, so it was done because it's the norm for me, not necessarily because i thought they were bad.... But they're a bit strong with them in that's for sure.

Have you tried SBS.
Used to use them on my fazer and never gave me a moments grief, and were strong and progressive.
However it was a heavier bike than an XSR!

I have on the ZX6R, they were in before we went to Brembo SAs. They were great but they wore quicker than the Brembos.

TBF I thought they were pretty bloody fierce when I rode it. I went from 2 finger to 1 and then from pulling to brushing on the ride following you. I'm sure you'd get used to it but harder to modulate when they are that bloody good. For road work I'd prefer a bit more travel and feel

Much prefer the standard pads, despite the first pull I thought they were broken !!! But after that they were great. They don't sit the bike up on dragging into a corner as much as the Brembos. Often into a corner I tap the brake, not sure why, it's a reflex action. But with the Brembo pads it can cause the bike to sit up, which I don't like.

So, happy with change

I run my levers soft. Most lads I know like 1-2 on the dial, I like 4-5. Currently set to 4. Just a personal preference thing

Always have mine set so when 2 finger braking the lever doesnt touch the gloves so i can still blip the throttle for down shifts.
The xsr doesn't need more than 2 fingers for serious stopping power.
