The lads new bike.... spec me a DH bike for racing.

Post by weeksy »

Well i thought this one should get a thread all of it's own...

Todays racing brought a whole new level of insanity for me and the boy

"you know something, i think i enjoy DH racing more than enduro"... Was his inital comment which we then sat down and chatted about for a few hours between runs.

So in the end the outcome was, we've cancelled the Southern Enduro series entries and he'll be racing in DH this year instead.

This also brings another level of insanity and his 150mm Specialized Enduro is being sold sooner than planned and being replaced with a full on DH bike.

He'll then ride my old Whyte T-130 which i'm getting back from a mate on his daily messing about rides, Ridgeway, cafes, woods... .but for bigger stuff, he gets a DH with 200mm travel and full on crazy geometry.

Why... well, why not... If we're going racing, we don't do things by half and we're going all in. There's a reason all DH racers race on DH bikes... because they're more suited lol.

So our current list for discussions.

Now i must admit, i don't know a heck of a lot about DH bikes, apart from them being hard to sell, lol. But it's time to learn..

Then get some more entries in !!!

The lad isn't feeling the 29er side of things so we've pretty much removed 29 from the discussion.

This is now on the list for sure

I hear you Jamie, but he's small and light, he's also never really ridden a 29er.

I think jumping to such a radical geometry bike AND a 29er at the same time may be a step too far.

I like that Myst too and it's something i think we could jump straight on and race on the 13th, but i'm not sure he's as convinced.
