Dunno, I spend a good part of my childhood in an area best described as "Bleak" but everytime I hear skylark or curlew call it reminds me of that fellside.

TBF i think the same and know i would not enjoy the place but it makes someone happy. Yorick and an Ex soon. Thankfully we are not all the same and dont like/hate the same things or life would be pretty boring if we all did. I just find it funny when Yorkie boy takes a strop when you diss the islandLutin wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 7:28 pm It must be me, but the first word that comes to mind is "barren".

The questions in the Laughing Gnome are answered in the song.
“Haven’t you got a gnome to go to?”
“No, we’re gnomads.”

Re: utterly random picture thread.
This has made me laugh. So many people I know would be twitching and calling for tools!! Me? It took me four days to notice and now I’m laughing - at it and about the fact it would wind up so many friends!!!

The seafront at Beltinge, where ol' ma Gremlin lives. Just behind the cliff you can see Reculver towers jutting up.
Nice after dinner walk with the mutt yesterday.
