A hearse.
To supplement that stipend.
I wonder who is old enough to appreciate this...............
Your new business card......

Most modern one he had was a 3500

I'm sure Jesus said he wanted you to have a Sunbeam, or something like that...

Yeah but the word "Rapier" could be misconstrued so probably not wise

Re: What car should a vicar have?
I bought this! 29K on the clocks, FSH, basic model so less to go wrong. Has space enough, is spotless inside and out, good tyres all round, smooth gears and engine. Full tank of fuel when I collected it. Sitting neatly in the garage! Very pleased it fits, and only just too! May add Cruise Control as that is a fairly simple enough job, but that is not absolutely necessary. 2011 1.4TSI, 6 Speed box and Massive Boot!

Ha! I had one of those before, a Felicia. It had a sunroof and it was pretty much a skip!
The Octavia is aces though and best car We have had in a long time. It has paupered us to buy it, but I'm flogging the Corolla Verso now and that will bring some money back into the fold.

Re: What car should a vicar have?
I used to know loads of Skoda (and Lada) jokes when I was a kid, since the Volkswagon AG buyout they've not been used so much.
I've heard some horror stories about the early 1.2 and 1.4 TSI's, hopefully yours is a good'un.
EDIT:
D'oh, it's an FSI not a TSI, should go for ever then... just not very quickly

Make sure it has a heated rear window to keep your hands warm when pushing it.

My typo. TSI, not FSI. It does have a six month guarantee thing on it and I will be doing a couple of longer trips, so if anything does go wrong, it should be covered.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 9:23 pm I used to know loads of Skoda (and Lada) jokes when I was a kid, since the Volkswagon AG buyout they've not been used so much.

I've a 1.2 TSi, it's a belter of an engine. It's the later one with the cam belt though.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 9:23 pm I used to know loads of Skoda (and Lada) jokes when I was a kid, since the Volkswagon AG buyout they've not been used so much.

Although he was mostly chauffeured about, Ian Paisley had a Toyota Celica for his own car.

Re: What car should a vicar have?
Remind me to steer clear of you!
Silver Ghost is the best suggestion so far! Far superior to my Octavia. Talking of which the car returns nearly 50mpg on longer drives with aircon on and at prevailing speed limits. Rather pleased with that. Handles nicely enough and has loads of space. We still had space after my wife panic packed for a week away, which usually includes clothing for all natural disaster scenarios....
