Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?

Daughter (8) was only clear of Covid on the 17th Dec.

Just got PCR back and she's positive again just over a month later. FFS.

Luckily as per December's round she's fine at the min, few sniffles and bouncing off the walls bored.

So assuming we're just as likely to get it again in the next week or so. Joy.

I thought there were issues with testing within 90 days of an infection. Does that only apply to one of the test types?

Foal had covid before Xmas. At that time the guidance was for 10 (?) days isolation. He's tested several times since with LF, all neg. IIRC, PCR can pick up 'dead' virus and show false positive.

Possibly. Since the 17th Dec she's had a few LFT tests including one on Fri and all negative till this morning. PCR has come back positive.

I came out of quarantine on the 31 Dec I'm testing negative on LFT and today's PCR.

Problem is no matter what she's out of school for at least a week again now.

If it looks like re infections are going to occur within weeks we can't keep doing what we have been, everything will grind to a halt.

Been testing my son daily as he's been going to school. He tested positive this morning. He came out of quarantine on the 1st Jan, so he's been re-infected in under a month. He's got cold symptoms of a cough and very snotty nose.

Thinking it's a certainty now Mrs and I get a 2nd dose within the week.

My wife tested positive on Thursday, this is the first time she's had covid. She's front line NHS staff and has had 3 doses of the vaccine. She has very mild flu like symptoms.

I saw an interview this morning but have forgotten her name. IIRC she has some sort of health issue requiring her to be very careful in avoiding contracting Covid and wants the rest of the country to remain masked up etc. to keep her safe.

I had Omnicron last month. We were testing everyday as we had a positive case in the chalet. I felt rough for 2 days before I tested positive.

I've felt rough for a couple days now, yesterday was the worst, easily as bad if not worse than when I had covid.
Despite really wanting to go snowboarding and see a couple bands tonight, I'm staying in and I'll keep testing for the next couple of days !

Catching Covid may cause changes to the brain, a study suggests.

Scientists found significant differences in MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scans before and after infection.

Even after a mild infection, the overall size of the brain had shrunk slightly, with less grey matter in the parts related to smell and memory.

Scientists from UK Biobank have embarked on a major study to determine Covid-19's long-term health impacts.

UK Biobank is a biomedical database with medical images, genetic data and health information on 500,000 people.

About 1,500 people who have had Covid will be scanned again to check how organs are affected by infection.

Its chief scientist, Prof Naomi Allen, said it was the only study able to compare patient data before and after they have had Covid.

Prof Allen added: "We knew at the beginning of the pandemic that Covid-19 was largely a respiratory illness. And now what we also know is that it seems to affect other parts of the body as well - the heart, the liver, the kidneys, and even the brain.

“So researchers will be able to investigate the direct effects of coronavirus infection on changes in both the structure and the function of these organs.”
