Re: Cleaning exhaust headers
They'll just get dirty again.
Re: Cleaning exhaust headers
Just to add a little balance. I have a 2010 Speed Triple which has never lived close to the sea as far as I know. I don't have rusty nutsweeksy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 4:48 pmIf I never wanted a triumph before this thread, you can be sure I don't want one now.
Although in its defence I don't think it's had the best chance
The headers turn brown as soon as they get warm though

Re: Cleaning exhaust headers
My 2006 Speed Triple was just as tidy after 13 years, and that pulled a winter or 2 as a commuter bike, granted I live / lived about as far from the sea as you can get.

Re: Cleaning exhaust headers
It's as done as I'm going to do it. It's all back together, running and no leaks. I got the radiator on, coolant filled and started it up only to hear a horrible noise that I hadn't heard before - it didn't take long to work out I hadn't done one of the headers back up (I'd loosened two headers but coundn't budge the middle one). I managed to get a socket back in there without removing the radiator again - phew! I didn't touch up the radiator and will use the Plasticote on my balcony table and chairs
Sorry for the rubbish quality pics.
Before
After
I never ever want to do headers again.

Looks much better.
Would a fender extender help keep the crud off the rad? Not the most trendy addition judging by other threads but they can make a lot of difference for all-weather riding.

Yes, and a rad guard. Until then, dry miles onlyCount Steer wrote: ↑Sun Feb 20, 2022 3:05 pm Looks much better.

I've got to put new rear brake pads in and put the belly pan back on, but I'm done. My hands and feet got to cold but feeling pretty warm and chuffed right now.

Re: Cleaning exhaust headers
That's a major improvement over 'before'. Good work. And another vote for a fender extender here.
