I have no problem with the principles of the changes but the detail as has been said many times here is pretty dire.

I think there's already something in the HWC about treating vulnerable road users with particular care. So I don't see the need for the new rules and the examples just given highlight the problems that are likely to arise in practice. I think the whole idea of creating an imaginary zebra crossing - on which pedestrians have even more rights than on a standard one (I think) - on every corner is unnecessary and asking for trouble.

I always thought when a pedestrian had started to cross they had right of way anyway so always let then continue. If i am in a 30 zone or going slow in a 40 and they are at a centre reservation i have always indicated to them to continue. I have did this since passing my test in 86. Cyclists can still do one though

slowsider wrote: Mon Feb 07, 2022 10:29 am As a pedestrian, even if I now have right of way / priority, if i think a driver hasn't seen me or isn't going to yield, I'll defer to them. Not sure I'm unique in that.
As a driver, eventually you are likely to meet an "I know my rights!" pedestrian or cyclist. They might be dead by the time you're close enough to be introduced, but ... ;)
They are, in effect, encouraging pedestrians to walk out in front of cars.

Some will have a bad experience.

Does it apply at the exits from roundabouts?

I'm sure you know the answer to that... cars turning left will have to give way to bikes going around the island, and will also have to give way to pedestrians waiting to cross the road.

And if you're turning right into a side street, you'll have to give way too.

Doubt the peddling prick was thinking about the new rules. Dash cam dates it back almost 8 month ago. Does not take away the fact he is a turd and hitting the railings would have been a better outcome. Bet the kids had a right laugh at his expense :D

I think drink or drugs has a greater influence on that cyclist than the highway code ever will, also looks like they are signaling the driver to pass just before they hit the deck.

Dashcam timestamp doesn't mean too much, mine resets itself every time the battery goes flat and I can't be bothered to correct it.

Can your dashcam reset put leaves back onto deciduous trees? ;)

That'll be the top of the range model with the option colour enhancement and adaptive season control.

Massive pile of kit on his back probably didn't help, either.

Is this pedestrian – stepping in front of cars purely to highlight the new Highway Code – committing an offence? Or is it perfectly OK under the new rules?

Either way, it’s a surefire Darwin Award

What an enormous bellend 🙄 definitely deserves a Darwin award. I'm not 100% sure he is technically correct, certainly for cars turning into the minor road he has priority but for the cars on the minor road going onto or across major road I'm not convinced, although I'd probably give way to a pedestrian waiting to cross in that situation.
Being a public nuisance would probably be the only offence he was committing 🙄

"Being very flat and leaking bodily fluids onto a public road".

Is that an actual offence?
