Finally got round to seeing In The Heat of the Night. Superb! It's on iplayer for free, whereas Prime are selling it.

Started watching Treadstone on Prime. (Bourne spin-off). 2 episodes in and it's 'all right'. Jumps about a bit and there's timey-wimey stuff + it's not clear yet which agents belong to who but I guess it'll evolve. Not totally convinced with some of the casting.
Rotten Tomatoes score was 47% and it got 70-something on iMDB.

Amazon 'Uranium, Twisting the Dragons Tail". A brief two episode short history of mans playing with nuclear fire. For the non physicists it has some very good explanations of radioactive decay, fission and the Parent/Daughter decay relationship as well as atomic research history. Nicely done PBS documentary.

Watched the first five episodes of Flipping Bangers thing morning.
It's got the same ethos as the first couple series of Wheeler Dealers, I like it!

Kelvin's Big Farming Adventure. It was kind of Clarksons Farm Lite in some ways, but interesting nevertheless. Two actors are able to subsidise a foray into farming, along with the help of tenant farming neighbours. I liked the way they showed the field to fork of livestock and explained it to their young Daughter, who appears to have been born a farmer with her complete understanding of eating one of her sheep and amazing ability of walking around one at a sheep show!
It's only 6 x 1/2 hour shows and an easy watch if you like that sort of thing.
Strictly winner Kelvin Fletcher has bought a 120-acre farm in the Peak District. With zero farming experience, he has a baptism of fire as he tries to find ways to make it pay.
Strictly winner, racing driver and soap star Kelvin Fletcher has spent most of his working life playing a farmer on Emmerdale - now he’s attempting to do it for real. Like tens of thousands of other Brits in the past year, he’s escaped his urban roots and moved his family to the country to start a new life. And he hasn’t done things by halves.
Kelvin and his wife, Liz, have bought a 120-acre farm on the edge of the Peak District National Park, which they plan to bring back to its former working glory - despite having zero farming experience. A month in and the jobs list is mounting, along with their stress levels. It’s a baptism of fire, but luckily for them, their no-nonsense next-door neighbour, Gilly is on hand to help.
Before investing in their own livestock, Kelvin and Liz get some hands-on experience with Gilly’s flock of sheep, but the harsh realities of animal husbandry soon hit home. The sight of a sheep’s maggot-infested foot is too much for Kelvin to bear and he starts to wonder if this new life really is for him.

Re: Box Sets, Mini series, films, etc.
'Upload' on Amazon Prime. Dead guy gets memory upload into a 'virtual heaven resort' with a bit of a whodunnit thrown in. 10 episodes and a new season coming up.
I thought this was going to be meh. (I didn't pick it). It's actually quite funny - the vision of the AI enhanced future gives an indication of the glitchy tech hell* Zukerberg's Meta is likely to be. Some of the futuristic stuff like 3D printers instead of ovens, cranking out steaks (needs a new fat cartridge ), the autonomous cars etc etc is amusing. Quite like the characters/well cast.
* eg the frame rate drops in the VR dead folks resort when an area gets busy.
So far it's a 7.89353/10

Series one finished, most enjoyable, and yes baby Yoda is cute.MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Wed Feb 16, 2022 5:37 pm Late to the party, but just stated in on The Mandalorian
Now moved onto Falcon and T'Winter Soldier, which isn't as fast based and actioned filled as I would like, so I might bang out a couple of episodes of Preacher for shits n giggles.

I was a bit meh about whether to watch the Reacher series. I watched the films and whilst good films, they weren't Reacher - with a guy my height pretending to be a man mountain, I couldn't watch as if they were ReacherMrLongbeard wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 12:01 am 1 episode in on the new Reacher series on there there Amazon, and I don't hate it, so it's a fuck tonne better than the last 2 films.
I watched the series a couple of weeks ago and it was really good. He gives the impression of being pretty close to the Reacher I know and love from the books Would definitely watch a second series if they continue them
I watch Mandalorian ages ago - signed up for Disney+ just so I could watch it. Spose I now need to sign up again so I can watch Boba Fett!!!

Been watching Dopesick which is available on Disney+ about the rise of Oxycontin and the devious nature of its marketing which led to an explosion of opioid addiction in the US. It's very well done and Michael Keaton is amazing.

Yup, I enjoyed the series, not a bad actor for the role and not a million miles away from the storyline in the book even if it didn't match the town etc in my mind when I read it.
A second series has been commissioned.

TBF, its so long since I read the Reacher books that I couldn't remember the specifics, so it wasn't so bad on that for me.MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Wed Mar 02, 2022 2:05 pmYup, I enjoyed the series, not a bad actor for the role and not a million miles away from the storyline in the book even if it didn't match the town etc in my mind when I read it.

Glad there's a second one on the way

The lost City of Z on iplayer. Had this recommended to me by a couple of people as just a really good film. I, typically, found it too long for what content there was, and very slow at times, but it was okay. 6/10...

Re: Box Sets, Mini series, films, etc.
I've just finished 'watching' the three series of MacGuyver - not the old version!!! The modern redone version. Unlike some programmes from my youth, I don't really remember MacGuyver that well, so this was was pretty good. Bit like the A-Team - make antibiotics or a nuclear bomb from the odd bits and pieces found in a forest or a mountain hut!!
But for lightweight action and a bit of daftness mixed in with what could possibly be serious science (I'm no science minded so it could be total bullshit!!) then it's a bit of fun

The Holiday. Short, 4 parter on Ch5. Really enjoyed it.
A Belfast Story. It has Colm Meaney in it, who is one of my favourite actors, so I watched it and I guess it was good, but the troubles, trouble me...
