Tom Sykes back to BSB?

Post by Bigyin »

Following yesterdays announcement that Christian Iddon will ride for Buildbase Suzuki alongside Danny Kent that leaves an empty seat at Visiontrack Ducati aka PBM.

Birdy isn’t daft so to let Iddon go while retaining Brooke’s he must have a card up his sleeve to play in their bid for the 2022 title.

Sykes currently without a ride as well as Haslam following his flick from Honda. I reckon Sykes will be in red come the season starter

What say you?

I wa never a fan of Mr.Bird, but I have to admit he's gone beyond the extra mile for Brookes. I think most people would have preferred to keep Iddon.

If Sykes does get the red bike,he'll probably be hard to beat, unless he doesn't get on with the thing.

Sykes is 10 years past his best.

He may well be... but i'm not convinced he needs to be at his WSB championship winning peak to do well and indeed win in BSB.

Not sure I’d say he was past his best, what defines his best? If you’re referring to his age then why is he past his best? He’s as fit as fuck and trains like a demon, problem with the bikes with regards to the WSBK is the depth of field is so vast that he hasn’t really got any worse, they’ve just got that much better.

What worries me which he did improve on at times was his ability to qualify superbly but go backwards during the race.

TRue of course and undeniable, however, this is with Birds team who are known for consistent pace in races, so if he's going to finish strong on a team/bike, this is the one.

It’s a shame he had to go through that divorce with his wife having an affair. Hopefully things look up next year, heard he’s back with BMW?

Was that the whole story, though? Adrenaline and testosterone-fuelled racers away in far-flung places for much of the year don't have the shiniest of reputations...
