The best crash protection is to not fall off.

Just ride the bloody bike, don't cover it in bolt on that, though a headlight protector isn't a bad idea.

No. And if I stacked it properly I doubt they'd have done much. But slow top off or car park drop they have saved a load of stuff.

So if you didn't fall off the 690 why do you think you'll fall off the GSX?

Why wear protective riding kit?

Mind you, I don't have crash protection on any of my bikes.

I did fall off the 250RS at walking pace when the front tyre blew out and rolled off the rim just as I was turning right at a junction. Aerostich did its job as did the knee armour. Broke the front brake lever.
"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer." Henry David Thoreau

Not sure I get that, crash protection is like wearing a helmet or having insurance isn't it? It's in case of rather than in expectation of?

If I topple off it might save some cash. The bars on the 690 covered the rad and engine which are pretty expensive to replace.

Not at speed granted

I'm bemused where all the angst seems to have come from, i thought it was a perfectly valid question.

Especially when you're now booking Pembrey ;)

Expenses allowing I can see an evening at Snetterton now being on the cards. I'll look into Pembrey though it's a bloody long way from Herford.

Crikey they're industrial for sure.

It's a pity though, I think the ones on the 690 blend into the frame well but this time will probably get bungs.

Try to avoid the ones that look like a black mamba sticking out of each side of the bike
