I've had the mole grips on it and a big pointy nosed adjustable, I've even had a drift on it and it doesn't turn.

I think I'm going to have to buy the castleated socket to take the outer nut off to have a better go at it.

A man on the internet said the spindle was hollow and I should knock it out from the other side.

Except my spindle isn't hollow.

I took the nut off the other side and tapped the spindle through a little to get a better grip on the plug.

Only it's not a plug, it's the head of the spindle. Must be an aftermarket blingy one.

I'm going to have to improvise with the ABBA stand now.

So that cap is actually the spindle? Am I reading that right?

Explains why you can't get it out at least.

It should have a hollow spindle like this...



I assumed the chrome bit was a bung in the hole.

It's not, it's part of the spindle casting.

I'm either going to have to make my own ABBA stand adaptor with a hacksaw, or buy the ABBA kit that locates on a replacement footrest bolt, like you can see on Dern's pic he just posted...

I think (but I wouldn't bet the farm on it) that if you can get the castellated nut off, you should have much better access to the flats on the blingy spindle.

But I could be talking out of my chuff...

I took the nut off the other end. I then knocked the spindle through about an inch.

That's when I spotted that what I thought was a blingy plug was actually part of the spindle casting.

I'm not 100% sure what the castellated nut if for, you can remove the spindle without touching it.

Maybe it just acts as a steel bushing to prevent any wear in the alloy frame.
