The price of vacuum cleaners is BMP right now! After wasting money on a Dyson Animal Sv a few years back, which mainly gets ignored in favour of a £40 cylinder, the wife now wants a new "decent" vacuum cleaner. Her searching has led her to the Shark brand and she wants the cordless upright one. I said you always moan about uprights and you should get a cylinder job and she should try them as its an expensive mistake if you get it wrong. I wish I'd kept my gob shut as now i've got to take her to a shop where she can see them and try pushing them about etc. Okay, its probably better than buying the wrong one, but I hate shopping for domestic goods.
Our old Dyson died so wife said she wanted the top-johnny cordless Dyson, 600+ notes! Had it a week and decides she didn't like it!
We've had a couple of second hand refurbished Dysons in a row now. Massively cheaper than new ones and come on....vacuum cleaner tech doesn't move that fast.

I bought a couple of broken ones a few years back for a tenner, they only needed unblocking which is easy to do on Dysons. They are still going strong, one given to my in-laws and the other as a dust extractor in the garage.
The local farmer has just put kissing gates across the local bridleway I use to access the Downs when I'm MTBing. I got very shouty on the local FB groups (nothing better than an internet rAnT). So the Rights of Way Officer will be getting a load of emails tomorrow from a very disgruntled MTB community.

Do not but a Shark @Taipan Heap of shite for the money. Look at VAX Air. Light and easy to use round corners and will sook your carpet off teh floor

Funny as the customer i was at did the same but i made a bit of a mess on her carpet so borrowed her shark. TBH it would not pull the skin of a rice pudding. Wife has a small cleaning business on the go and thinks they are not worth the money also.

I'm pretty sure that years ago opened jars of jam lasted months, perhaps even years in the cupboard. These days it seems that if you don't eat it within a week it goes mouldy Did the EU ban a particular, critical E number? If so, can we have it back now?
I've just thrown away nearly a whole jar of my favourite conserve, Bonne Maman Black Cherry, that I only opened a couple of weeks ago. It's not unique to that brand, it happens whatever jam I buy. The amount of jam I throw away these days would make buying individual servings more economic.
I'm inclined to treat myself to these as I get excited about miniatures anyway. I'll squirrel them away somewhere and then I can have jam whenever I want!!!

All of that!! LOL I've kept jam in the fridge for years now cos I rarely use it. Cherry or raspberry for bakewells and that's about it. If I only used it for toast, then I'd have to buy the tiny pots or freeze it!
My homemade stuff generally lasted longer - no E's but probably more sugar than the shop stuff

Aha. We have a spoon that lives in the coffee jar and one that lives in sugar jar. Never the twain shall meet.
Stopped taking sugar in my tea quite a few years ago as did the wife bus some visitors like the step daughter or her dad take sugar. Last thing i want in coffee in a Coco Pops in the morning.
