I’m in two minds about Johnson. At his core, I’m reasonably sure his politics matches mine, centrist with a dash of liberalism thrown in.

That said, he bounces around in a populist wind and doesn’t have any sort of spine when it comes to policies he believes in (except when it comes to saving his skin).

I think the cards are stacked against us and any twist will cause a huge lurch to the right.

It's ok, Gove is still supporting Boris.

Boris was against brexit until he decided he may be able to land himself the PM’s job, hence my comment about blowing with the populist wind.

Move on to who? That’s the issue.

It’s such a sad indictment of today’s political landscape that I can’t look at a mainstream party and see anyone that I would want as PM.

Sunak would be the obvious choice, on the surface a man of the right ability is but I can’t see past the potential conflict of interest he has as the son in law of one of India’s richest men.

Boris is a dead weight on the Conservative party now.

It does look likely Sunak will be the next in charge.

And yes, I can see he may continue the corruption. But it's kind of worth the price for the frothing reaction from the get Brexit done / send the buggers back brigade once a brown person is in charge of the UK.

LOL...quite a few of those have a vote in the ballot.

He may not have a big enough network of support in the party, but then again he hasn't been around long enough to have a big network of enemies either.

Shifty Sunak -seems- normal. Normal whilst being terribly entitled, over privileged and aware that if he cocks it up for us he can just literally whistle himself off stage left and he'll be totally fine. Like a premier League football manager.

There's a small pot of talent on the Tory front bench, almost as if Boris has thinned out any of the good ones and non compliant ones because it's easier to handle / blame a succession of no talent fules

IIRC when he got the reins he culled everyone/most who were against Brexit. That got shot of much of the talent and kept the arse kissers/corrupt ones.

To be fair, I also needed my spillchucker for it.
