Unifi AP
Unifi AP
Hello IT people. I've got one of those Unifi AP wireless access points. I'm wanting to change the password for the wifi access, but I can't get into it, can't remember how I set it up and using what I've found online to try and reset it doesn't work.
Are these known to be buggers to reset? Seriously tempted to just buy a new one!
Cheers

Re: Unifi AP
They can be controlled in a few ways, but I think you will need to download and install the controller software from the UniFi download site, do a factory reset on the unit, pick it up again using the software and re-set it up.

Re: Unifi AP
As wheelnut says there are a couple of ways, download the controller software for Windows or any other operating system or use the Unifi Network app to set it up. Just did mine today and it took me a little while to work out how to set it up using their software. But got there eventually. This was after a factory reset as I played around with it before installing it in the garage. There is a reset button on the access point where the network cables plug in which should factory reset it.
Re: Unifi AP
Thanks chaps.
I did previously try the software, can't get in, can't remember passwords. I tried the factory reset and all it did was come back on with the same wifi code, but now all laptops have only internet over the wifi and no LAN access at all.
I'm either thick or these are complicated devices......

Uninstall the software and reinstall it - iirc that clears the profile.Ant wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 11:52 am Thanks chaps.

If you can still see the Wi-Fi then you haven’t done the factory reset properly
They’re not complicated, but I wouldn’t say they are particularly simple for consumers to setup either.

Re: Unifi AP
Did you hold the reset button in for more than 5 seconds, others say 10 seconds.
Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds while AP is connected. Release the button (the LEDs on the UAP will stop glowing). Do not disconnect the UAP from its power source during the reboot process. The UAP will restore factory settings.

Re: Unifi AP
I forgot to come back to this and update you.
What the issue was I think was something to do with the controller software on the computer, no idea why it would be any different now, but I uninstalled it all, installed the latest Java, then did the full reset and I managed to get back into it and got it going again
