Triumph/Bajaj

Post by KungFooBob »

Spotted!

The new bike made in partnership between Triumph and Indian bike giant Bajaj...

Image

Not a great pic, but they say it's a single.

Is this a Himalayan competitor?

Looks water cooled and DOHC.

Apparently there's two versions.

Road and a faux adv versions, with different sized wheels and bodywork.

I'm pretty sure it's designed for the Indian market, tho the top pic is it being papp'ed in the UK.

No competition to the Himalayan, looks far too road orientated, cast wheels instead of spoke.

Himalayan is a like an old Land Rover, this thing is more like a Rav4.

They've been talking about this for a LONG time...

But the weird thing is Bajaj have some pretty sharp looking bikes which are a lot more up to date looking.

I am really not sure what this supposed Triumph is supposed to be. It doesn't do the heritage thing, and it's not hipster, and it's not sporty.

I imagine it's hard for us to know what it's supposed to be, 'cause we're not the target market. It's primarily for India and the far east innit, where tastes are gonna be different. Just having "Triumph" on the tank and being vaguely British looking is probably worth quite a lot.

It's the same reason a lot of BMW cars are fucking gopping cartoonish looking things now - goes down well in China!

Talk originally was of a low cost entry model for Europe - just like the BMW310 - as well as something for India.

Indeed... so I don't quite get the sub-Enfield looks.
