Definitely won’t be with them. I’m presuming I’m still covered and will obtain a further one years no claims when the time comes.

I got an email from them yesterday to tell me that my policy will end at the end of the month instead of October like it should. Apparently I have to apply to the FSCS for a refund.

The other week I was searching for something and found my policy which is with Swinton, not sure why I thought I was with MCE, must have been the prior year.

The Gibraltar based Insurer has by all accounts just rolled up the business.
Nothing atm to say they were in trouble but just decided to call in administration and fold.
Its a load of bullshit as some of my policy paperwork has MCE Insurance Limited on it in the US/THEM/ETC definitions with no mention of the Gibraltar company anywhere but they are still wrapping up those policies as well despite the cover being under the UK company.

I’ve just been looking at quotes for my GS and MCE comes in well under anything else at £249.

Bennetts is next at £477.

I think I’ll keep looking. £249 isn’t bad…but it’s MCE.

I’m disappointed at Carole Nash which was nearly 600quid. They were always cheapest for my ZZR but when I got the Sprint they got too expensive and the GS 1200 was no better.

Check who's underwriting the quote - MCE are now just a broker, not an insurer.

It’s a company called Sabre Insurance.

Good reviews on Trustpilot but all about how easy it is to get insured.

Reviews on another site about what happens after an accident aren’t too encouraging.

BMW used to offer decent insurance rates for BMWs, always found them to be competitive. Definitely used to offer very good discounted rates on the second one. (Obvs figured out that you can only ride one at a time ).

I just tried them and the woman couldn’t get any quotes for me. She did accept my shed as ‘garaging’ so it might be due to the value of the bike.

Anyway she’s getting back to me tomorrow hopefully with some results.

In the meantime I’ve been mucking about with quotes with and without garaging and it does make a big difference in price. A lot of companies won’t even quote unless it’s garaged.

Strange. The BMW people quite happy to quote and insure two new/newish bikes kept in a carport at my last house. This was viewable from the road. I don't remember the cost going down (no surprise there then!) after moving and garaging them. Maybe a postcode thing?
