How do you hold bike upright and lube at the same time. Looks dodgy to me.

I remember a photo of a lady with fancy black amd purple painted nails who had done that. Her nails looked good, the rest of her fingers less so.

I use that tool for wedging my Street triple swing arm when I lube the chain. If I had a MT07 I would use it for the same purpose.

I do all my bikes that have a centre stand or fit on the paddock stand like this. 1st gear, pot of oil and a paint brush.

The "puck" you can see in the middle goes under the side stand then you just turn the wheel with one hand whilst oiling the chain with the other hand. I suspect I will try the engine running method at some point though!Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 9:43 am How do you hold bike upright and lube at the same time. Looks dodgy to me.

Or just get yourself a decent shaft drive bike.
You can do the proper wheelies then as well.

Placing the bike on an Abba stand I turn the rear wheel by hand, lovingly and fastidiously cleaning and oiling each wonderfully created link.
It's only right.

I think with these rollers it would be safer to turn wheel by hand as you say. Running in first could be risky, if say it went out of line or summot. Paddock stand running in first is fine. And only a daft bugger would wrap his hand in the rear sprocket.

The remote control should make it easierTaipan wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 9:35 am Bought one from Busters/M&P snd it arrived 2 days later. Good heavy bit of kit and not flimsy as expected. I’ll give it a try over the weekend.

Re: Motorbike rear wheel spinners, any good?
I tried it out today. First fault it moves when you try and roll the bike onto it. This was on decking, but I assume concrete will be worse. The get round is to stand behind the bike with your feet or foot against the stand and pull the bike onto it. Easy enough on a light bike like Mine but wouldn’t want to do it with anything much heavier tbh.
Moving onto oiling the chain; I used a squirty can but think puring out of a bottle with a outer would be better. I found turning the wheel with your left hand whilst putting the oil onto the chain as it rotates on the rear sprocket is best. Turning it with a spray lubricate would probably be the best solution and may knock the rating up a point?
I’m summary, centre staNd get the gold, paddock stand silver and this is an also ran! It’ll do what I want, which is saving me get the paddock stand from the shed and bringing it round the front and I suspect it’ll get hetter as I get used to using it, but I can only give it 3/5.

A trolley jack under the swinging arm or exhaust will do the job

Glue some rubber under it?

Again, that's something I'd have to go and get, whereas this will live under the hedge in the front garden, so I can just use it easily.

Maybe if the roller was permanently fixed somewhere handy, then it would be less of a faff?
