Having a drink or two, or three, perhaps. But on past midnight? And setting up a laptop to play music, then having a danc with your colleagues? I've not worked in offices where that would happen!
You may have a point - There would have to be a lot of booze, drugs and the potential for nookie to get me to work that late and dance with fecking work colleagues FFS.
So maybe there is more to all this after all.

I can't help but think there are bigger issues to worry about other than a group of people who work together having a bevvie in the office after work....
Quite right, those bigger issues are the ones they should be dealing with instead of having office parties.

During lockdown our building had a fire evacuation. I noticed most of our HR team at the muster point so went for a catch up. They were all in for a 'meeting' with lots of wine and prosecco in the fridge for after the, obviously critical meeting, which coincided with one of their birthdays. What a coincidence.
I suspect that was going on all over the country and frankly, who cares?
Bluntly, it's the repeated hypocrisy.

And deep down, we all know we're hypocrites ourselves. Maybe we really do get the leaders we deserve.

I've never been THAT bad!
Doubt is not a pleasant condition.
But certainty is an absurd one.

While we have this amnesty going on I'd like to get a few murders off my chest.
If I'd known the 2020s was going to be all about pandemics followed by the universal adoption of catholic values of guilt & absolution, then I wish I'd done far more and regular full-on illegalities.
Where do we draw the line with this 'welllll we're all a bit woo and a bit wayyy' thing?
Can they speed with impunity, or rape someone, or even murder. Cos we'll if some people do it it must be all good for those at the top to have a go as well.
Or are those that write the laws supposed to be held more accountable than the rest of us. And if not then fuck it let's all do what we want.
Must admit 1 party I'd probably just roll my eyes and not worry. But this seems to have been a full on regular do what the fuck you like whilst telling the rest of us we have to toe the line. I didn't see my folks for 5 months cos it was for the good of everyone to help stop the spread of covid. I damn well do care that No 10 and the the wider government didn't follow the rules they set.
And this does have a knock on effect as whilst I'd be happy to wear a mask in Tesco etc now I'll not be listening next time they tell me I can't see my folks. So it's a massive erosion of their authority. I don't think you'd get anything like a lockdown we had in 2020/early 2021 now. People won't believe the government.

You are right but for many people he's still the lesser of a few evils, how many want a Tory PM that will reverse the healthcare reforms? Labour isn't an option right now but I'm sure they would love a PM to reverse that bill.

With the next GE 2 years away, Con Vs Labour for the country is irrelevant.
But there are likely to be some lively doorstep conversations ahead of the local elections.
However, many people are seriously pissed at this seeming dual standards. FWIW if I had to go into the office it had to be approved by a Director and Facilities were logging and checking every instance of door electronic key use. Going in for a birthday party 'meeting' would not have happened.

It's the repeated and bare hypocrisy of those who make the rules/laws which govern us.

A few bevvies after work? No way, it's multiple occasions with large numbers of people partying in government offices/gardens.
Even one large party into the early hours of the morning that the Queen sat by herself at her husband's funeral!
No, it's beyond the pale.
Edit: insert picture, not Westminster Abbey.

Not really, we had dozens and dozens of posts of people saying on here they were meeting up with friends, family. Heck we did a trackday or 3 at the time too.

There is a fundamental difference between 'us' and 'them' not following the rules/laws.
They are the people who make the rules for us to follow.
If we do not follow these rules then we can be prosecuted.
If they do not follow the same rules, then what?

Were people prosecuted for having mates over in their gardens? I'm sure some may have been finned. I'm not sure many lost their jobs because of it.

The key issue is whether you think that "do as I say not as I do" is acceptable.
I do not.
