Within hours of DC giving a confidential written testament to Sue Gray she handed over the information/files to the Met who then announced their investigation. Could be coincidental but...?

Next. Sam Coates of Sky News says:

Can’t wait for DC’s latest blog.

The thing that will save Boris is that nobody wants the job. If it's not Covid it's Brexit or whatever other fuck up lies waiting in the wings. But it's another 2 years until an election, he can't possibly last that long, can he?

You say that nobody else wants the job, but he can't possibly wait 2 years until an election.

So someone who doesn't want the job is going to get it, one assumes?

The problem the Tories have now is that anyone that could potentially take over had their picture taken at a Downing Street lockdown party. Unless it's Rees-Mogg or Gove and who would vote for them? Actually plenty I suppose.

After Johnson has gone* and the No.10 Augean stables are seen to have been cleaned of cake and wine, whoever becomes PM will have a relatively clean sheet [sic].

As is any Opposition's wont, it will try to keep the story running but 'Partygate' will soon fade away as concerns over inflation, energy prices, war in Europe etc. come to the fore.

* one assumes voluntarily, but perhaps not!

I think I’m in this camp.

As easy as it would be to play the vindication card, and how some of us where telling you Boris was scum from day one- truth is there isn’t much of an alternative. He’s just the figurehead of a corrupt group and it’s like Hydra trying to kill that lot.

Case in point - the Lib Dems are cashing in on this and they don’t have a leader ( you know what I mean). Starmer might be too far gone to provide viable opposition, so people are protesting.

I warmed to Gove when he started clubbing after his separation btw. It’s all messed up.

And another fib?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-60143279

But an email from an official in minister Zac Goldsmith's office suggests he was personally involved.

It is one of a number of emails released by a select committee.

The August 2020 message to an official in the Foreign Office says: "Charity Nowzad, run by an ex-Royal Marine, has received a lot of publicity and the PM has just authorised their staff and animals to be evacuated."

When asked in December if he had prioritised animals over the Afghan people in the evacuation of Kabul, Mr Johnson said: "That is complete nonsense."

The prime minister's official spokesman said: "It remains the case that the PM didn't instruct officials to take any particular course of action."

Unsurprising and massive swerve today at PMQs by accidentally delaying the release of Sue Gray Report. He's bought himself another week - they may as well have shown a repeat of last week's PMQs.
I see Boris has already got the DM starting to bang on about a "the country has better issues to deal with" stance, He's gone from "I didn't know" to desperately hoping this will peter out.

Nobody wants the job! :D

The brass balls on Dirty Bungle are quite something. Watching Johnson at PMQs today: he looks positively bright, bouncy and chipper, smirking throughout. Giving absolutely no shits and having no shame is truly a superpower. I actually think he might survive this now.

I thought politics was dire in terms of alternatives since Brexit and thought we'd hit rock bottom but it just keeps getting worse. But if the Tories keep getting a by this is only going further south. This is beyond parody at the moment.

Do you think the majority of British / English would feel Corbyn would have deliver furlough, the vaccine programme etc in the same way ?
Granted Boris is a complete knob - with a Prince Andrew sized ego. But who would replace him? - it won't be "I'm a famous lawyer, me" Starmer.

That was my point! We've had the worst set of political leaders of the main parties in my lifetime since Brexit, granted I'm only 44, as no fucker of any talent wants the job.

However on who to replace Boris with? I don't know. But I wouldn't vote for him I can tell you that.

And this is why British politics is broken.

Because the polarisation is such that a massive embarrassment, twat, liar and potential criminal is touted as "better than the (numerous) other guy(s)" who hasn't even had a go

I reckon he's gonna survive it.

It strikes me as Trump-esque. Just keep piling the ridiculousness on with no shame. Before someone gets a chance to react, add on more absurdity. Soon enough people forgot what they were even angry about 2 weeks ago 'cause something else has come along.

He's not gone yet, so I reckon he's pretty much in the clear to announce he had an orgy in number 10 during peak lock down all paid for by party donors.

I don't really read the Guardian (no -really) but I caught a "sketch" piece today that basically questioned just what does he have to do for his supporters to abandon him? Currently the party/Party line seems to be of making the accusations seem absurd. "He hasn't robbed a bank yet." one supporter pleaded, so they're ramping it up. Orgies might be a step too far as there's probably already something in the closet about that.

He has to do something that upsets them, if he had some dubious work drinks / parties in lockdown very few people care. If that's the best the opoosition can do then the policies must have been spot on.

If nobody cared it would die away, that's the problem. And after all we all know (apparently) that the government has the media in it's pocket. What the media is starting to do is try and convince us belatedly that nobody cares.

Opposition is impossible during COVID though innit? We all want to get out of this ASAP so you can't properly "oppose" without seeming like you're deliberately pushing against the common weal, and it's not as if COVID policy is clear cut after all.

So all they can do is properly milk the government not following its own rules. I would, they would. You think the Tories wouldn't pull the pants of Starmer in a similar position? Course they would.

I can't help but think there are bigger issues to worry about other than a group of people who work together having a bevvie in the office after work....

One of the things I've wondered about is why they don't want to go home? Either terrible home life awaits them, or loneliness in a single room - just like many others had to experience for months.

Having a drink or two, or three, perhaps. But on past midnight? And setting up a laptop to play music, then having a danc with your colleagues? I've not worked in offices where that would happen!

During lockdown our building had a fire evacuation. I noticed most of our HR team at the muster point so went for a catch up. They were all in for a 'meeting' with lots of wine and prosecco in the fridge for after the, obviously critical meeting, which coincided with one of their birthdays. What a coincidence.
I suspect that was going on all over the country and frankly, who cares?
