But I don't think it's a bad thing to do to teach a kid that you can love them 100% and still do the sports/hobbies that make you 'you'. Might make me a bad person thinking that way?
I've always had an aloof mercenary streak, my thinking was always if it went pear shaped she'd have got my life insurance money and still have the other parental unit, and she'd get over it / me soon enough, life must go on and all that.

I try and introduce her to things that I enjoy or think she'd enjoy, she's not got the bike bug yet, maybe she will later;

Although I do worry that she may take after me just a little to much

I think there's a big difference between having children who are nearly/already grown up and having little kids. Baby Dazzle (4) would be well cared for financially if I were to die and Mrs. D wouldn't have to worry about the mortgage or anything like that. There's no substitute for going up with two parents though IMO.

It certainly weighs on my mind when I consider what dangerous activities I might want to do.

Been old for ages, as a mate said to me when I remarked how people ( women ) stop clocking you as you get older, he remarked that" they've been ignoring you for ten yers at least. You just haven't noticed, swapped the 06 ZZR 14 for an 2017 so I expect to be even slower until I get used to it.

Me, too. While I’m no bimbler, track days left me cold. I prefer whizzing round the Isle of Man or the Stelvio, etc. I find road riding more interesting, but we all like different motorcycling things.

I'm getting more cautious but then I was fairly cautious before.
Various aches and pains will probably stop me before I become incapable I reckon.

Having kids and not wanting to mess myself up for their sake made no difference at all to me, but then I had kids quite young and felt majorly invulnerable at the time.

Never really been bothered about track days, getting close to my limits has never been a thing.

I'm ancient and many days, I feel like it. I still love riding though and pre-pandemic used normally to take a couple of trips annually to Europe on big bikes( 1260 Ducati MS, 1200 GS Adventure ). Nowadays, I am riding a KTM 390 adventure and my most recent BMW (1250 GS) sits forlornly in the garage waiting for a bit of attention to be paid to it. However, the 390 is proving ideal for pottering the backroads and coping with potholes and I'm finding the slower speeds I am riding suit me fine. When Europe is properly open again and not too much hassle to visit, I shall definitely go there again - maybe on the GS but just as likely on the KTM. I still enjoy riding fast when the opportunity presents itself but my estimation of what constitutes a suitable opportunity has changed a lot now that I don't bounce like I used to, the law has become a bigger factor and the roads are busier etc. I also take more pleasure in looking at what's left of our countryside and finding new places to visit.

I find i am riding like less of a twat on the road nowadays as i will lose my income if i get caught doing anything naughty rather than my age. I believe i am allowed 1 minor fuck up like a speeding ticket at a moderate level but anything above that means withdrawal of my Instructors License. I always left a larger comfort margin anyway when riding than some of my other riding buddies through probably less faith in tyre technology and grip than they had. Add in different levels of ability and confidence which also has an effect on comfort margins

Years ago i took out an accidental death policy as my hobbies were riding motorbikes and running about on race tracks picking up crashed bikes and riders whilst trying not to get hit by everything still moving. If i snuffed it the missus has a policy and another one makes sure the mortgage is paid off. My kids get to split the accidental death payoff
