Honda CB300R

My Friendface is full of the new Honda CB300R, it's quite a smart looking thing.

144kg wet.

31bhp.

Anyway, having seen lots of pictures I realised what it reminds me of.

It's a modern, four stroke, SDR200.

The only Honda engine they haven't done the 'CB n R' thing to is the 500 twin but surely it wild sell bucket loads

Hate the exhaust and hate the seat. Front wheel looks spindly but apart from that its quite nice.

It's okay, a bit to angular for my taste, if it's making 31bhp it's pretty impressive for a 300cc 4 stroke single.

I know it's down the the way the market works, Japanese licence laws and all the rest of it, but modern singles don't feel as special to me as the old IL4, V4 and V2 400cc bikes of yesteryear. I dunno, a single always feels poverty spec in a way a multi just doesn't.

I'm under no illusions that bike is, objectively speaking, probably loads better than my 1989 400 was though

Those EURO5 exhausts are massive aren't they? They do give the wrong illusion that the bike is bigger than it is. I do like these smaller capacity bikes.

I guess I'm trying to say it doesn't look cheap.

It looks (from the photo's) like a there's some nice little details that make it look a bit more premium than your typical shopping bike.

An Sh300i punts out 26bhp and it was far from highly tuned.
