'02 FZS 1000

Post by Nordboy »

Ok, I'm putting it up!!! I'm selling my black 2002 FZS 1000. 41966 miles. :(

It's in good condition for the year. There's very obviously marks and scars as it's a 20 yr old bike.

Now....it's currently a non runner. It's sorn'd and hasn't got an MOT. I know the horn wasn't working, but they're only £10 or so?? So, if anyone buys it, they'll need to take it on a trailer or in a van.

It's been left in the garage and now doesn't start. I've just put it back on an optimate, but it may need a new battery.

The carbs need cleaning out as well. When I last started it just before Christmas, it started and idled but whenever I applied the throttle, it cut out.

I'll throw in the SP exhaust, as well as the original. It has a Givi luggage rack fitted as well, but I also have the pillion handles. It has a black bagster tank cover as well.

I've done very few miles on it over the 5 yrs I've owned it. I intended to get it back on the road this year and use it. But I've got a new bike itch and once I've got the itch, it'll probably end up being scratched.

If anyone is handy with spanners, then it's an easy fix to get it sorted.

Price, well, I think I'd like to pocket £1200. I don't think that's unreasonable for a thou? (unless everyone tells me otherwise?) Looking on fleabay, the cheapest bike on there is £2000'ish. It'll cost very little, maybe just someone's time to get this bike back on the road. If you want to chance an offer, then it'll need to be close.

A lot of very capable bike for bugger all money.

If you lived local to me and I actually had some room in the garage I'd bite your hand off.

This still needs to go really. Another year passes and still haven't done anything with it.

Fancy a scooter for my commute so could do with some deposit cash.

Still can't work out the pics thing, so a link to my flickr account is below

Needs to be picked up from Margam, South Wales.

Looking for £1000 if possible, make a great project for very little cash if you have more time and spannering skills than me, which shouldn't be difficult tbh.

Bargain. I'd buy that all day for £1000. If I had a spare £1000 that is

@Welsh Muffin could buy it for my valentine present though

It's a proper bargain. Not really my thing (plus I already have too many bikes), but I'm sure that someone will bite yer arm for it off very soon.

I’d get a local garage to sort the carbs, fit a battery and mot it and you’ll cover the cost easily I would have thought. It’s a bargain at a grand but you’ll need someone who prepared to do a bit of faffery and take a chance the rest works.

It's what I've been intending to do. I've had a fair bit of interest in it already, couple of offers, one chancer but one that I would accept that gives me my deposit on a new scooter.

It's really got to the stage where I've lost all motivation to sort it out. That's why I think it's time to go. I didn't actually think I'd ever sell it, but things change I guess.

At that price you'll sell it no bother. What a bargain.

Right, I took a deposit on this but have had another offer overnight for the full asking price and £175 more than I accepted.

Return the deposit and sell to the new offer?

Stick to my acceptance of the original offer and be a person of scruples?

strangely struggling with a decision if i'm honest?

Depends who the offers are from. TBF, that implies you accepted £825, which is quite frankly a ridiculous price lol.
But me, I'd stick by my word personally if a deposit has been paid

I put it up for £1250 in the end, offered £1075 yesterday, then the full asking price overnight. The original offer has to arrange couriers etc, the full price is localish and wants to pick it up. It's quite a bit more, and could do with the extra like anyone can, hence the struggle.

The local/collection changes things a little bit potentially... I do understand the money side of things too of course.
