Re: SPORT CLASSIC: DUCATI MONSTER S2R
Companies like McLaren - who have lots of exposed CFRP in their cars - have detailed guidance documents about which was the weave on the carbon goes in the car, or where you can put splits in the plies, how big the "tows" are (the individual strands/bundles of carbon in the weave), what colour the resin is etc. You then have to mark all the mould tools with guides, based on careful thinking about how the carbon is gonna be aligned in the final car, so that when you stick all the carbon bits on the car all the 'point' the same way and have a consistent size of weave etc. It means that loads of carbon bits look coherent and not like they're just stuck on at the end.
Someone needs to teach this fella how to do that.

That's pretty much what they are. He's selling it all as a kit so people can just 'stick it on'...only he calls it 'plug and play'.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 8:05 am Companies like McLaren - who have lots of exposed CFRP in their cars - have detailed guidance documents about which was the weave on the carbon goes in the car, or where you can put splits in the plies, how big the "tows" are (the individual strands/bundles of carbon in the weave), what colour the resin is etc.

Wonder where the number plate goes?

Re: SPORT CLASSIC: DUCATI MONSTER S2R
You make all the kit line up though, that's exactly what McLaren and co do, they're just optional extras which replace the standard moulded plastic part. All you need to do is consider it as a whole and do it 'properly'. They ARE just stuck on at the end, but it doesn't look that way.
If it wasn't for this dashed idleness maybe I'd give it a whizz However judging from the state of most carbon bodywork you see few people would notice.

If you squint it looks like an M&P Accessories catalogue from the early 90s.

That is spectacularly better, I wouldn't even have pegged it as coming from the same place.

As an S2R owner I think if I painted mine in textured beige emulsion and tassles it would look better than this.
Especially hate the gold.
As an aside, these bikes handle really well with low clip ons like on this bike- and mine.
Mine looks nicer than this.
