Michelin roll out new Road 6 and Road 6 GT touring rubber

I know many on here loved the Road 4... And of course the Road 5... I've got the road 5's on the MT-07 and i'm impressed with them for sure.

Michelin have announced new versions of their do-it-all tyre, which will now be called the Road 6 and Road 6 GT.

Following on from the Road 5, which has been a firm favourite in the MCN office since it was introduced in 2018, the Road 6 focuses on increased wet grip and greater longevity, as well as a larger spread of sizes.

Michelin say the new tyre benefits from a fresh tread design, improved raw materials and an improved build, which all contribute to a claimed 15% improvement in wet grip over the old model, as well as a claimed 10% increase in tyre life.

The Road 6 is available now in six front and eight rear sizes, while the Road 6 GT comes in one front and three rear sizes covering everything from sub-500cc machines right through to 1600cc heavyweights.

I'm hoping this'll mean the 5's will come down a little in price. I love the 5s. And to be fair the 3s and 4s before them. I like the feel Mich give.

Yeah I have a mobile tyre guy come and do mine and I think the offer then was £50 or a pressure monitor but he was able to stamp it all up for me. Made it a nicer price for sure though.

The Fives have only been out for a couple of years, haven't they? Will we be getting a new version every year soon? Then every six months? Is the technology really moving that fast? Couldn't possibly be a ... marketing exercise, could it?

I'm sure it is. Maybe a slight incremental in performance but not a lot. Id happily have 3s if I could get them and they were cheaper by enough. Last time around the 4s were only 30 quid cheaper than the 5s so thought I'd try em. And to be fair they seem to cup less than the 4s so far

I liked both the threes and the fours. I've got fours on the Tracer atm and need a new front. I'll take a four if they have one, otherwise any number, probably!

Tyres these days are ridiculously awesome, in comparison to 10 or so years ago it’s like night and day.

I think I'll give the Road a try next time around. I've used Powers for a few years now,but I seem to be doing more miles,so maybe the Roads will last a bit longer for little noticeable (for me) change in grip.

Even when I ride on wet and muddy lanes in winter, the tyres never seem to slide. I dare say I could make them do so if I tried, but riding normally it just doesn't happen.

I really must try the Michelins ..... The Multi owners lot are pretty much 50/50 split between Angel GT2 and Road 5 at the moment. I have used the Angel GT and GT2 for the last 5 years or so for everything from touring to track and been happy with them but a change is always good for education ;)

My mate across the road had a rear tyre delivered for his Fazer 1000. Because he wasn’t in the delivery guy left it at my house.

I was surprised to see it was a Road 2. I thought he must have bought old stock but I was even more surprised to see it was new.

I didn’t realise they were still making them but at about 100 quid they’re quite a bit less than the equivalent 5.

I had Angel GT's on my 1290GT. Just not enough miles in them. Swapped to Road 5's, about 50% more miles and didn't feel there was anything missing. In fact definitely better in the wet.

I need tyres at the end of last year and no one could source my size in Road 5's. Makes sense now.
