TBF although you are correct and in my defence i still am not 100% on top of a gluten free diet and when i do eat/drink gluten i probably would be better off with a flue.

Today I went for first lift. My legs were sooooooooo tired!! LOL Did a couple of runs and then went for a rest. Then met my friends from yesterday, slightly the worse for wear as they didn't get home till gone 11 last night and they drank LOTS!!! So we did a few gentle runs. Then home!

I've taken back the skis I borrowed. Hoping to get a lesson in the week and will try and work out if I can use my touring skis for busy piste skiing!! That'll be interesting :D

Now having a really chilled evening and early night cos I've got a fair bit of driving to do over the next 2 days :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde: Phew, the Brits are allowed to travel again :bblonde: :bblonde:

Hairybiker84 wrote: Fri Jan 14, 2022 1:54 pm Been out there quite a few times, last time stayed in Les Coches, which was actually better than expected and easy access to the Vanoise Express as we prefer Les Arcs really. Had bad memories of La Plagne when a relative newbie to snowboarding - every piste seemed to be undulating and not enough confidence to blast downhill so resulted in what seemed like lots of walking
Seem to have had more than our fair share of dreary flat light there too unfortunately, not like your day  I usually end up feeling sick if I spend any amount of time skiing (or even in bubbles) in flat light.

I think my downhill days are pretty much over now, did my ACL during an off-piste lesson at Val D'Isere and even an expensive custom knee brace doesn't stop me 'tweaking' it. As it functions pretty much perfectly 99% of the time I decided the lottery of reconstruction wasn't worth it
A lot of my friends here are boarders, but also definitely not newbies! I can see that it isn't great for learning - bits are but it's getting too and from them!!!

I hate flat light - more because I just can't see the definition of the snow and couldn't manage the bumps! Need to try and learn this winter I think. Maybe. But, cloudy - not a hope, I can't tell if I'm going up or down!! LOL Well, apart from when I fall over cos I can't ski up! LOL

I don't have any knowledge of other resorts but hopefully I'll get to ski some later in the year when everyone is a bit more settled!

Today the wheels turned on my Project 900SS.
pushed it into the back of a van and then into the new single lock up garage, along with Son No.2's Yamaha Trailways, a few sets of wheels, some shelving units, some zorsts. Then I took a bike lift some Abba Stands and half of my garage cabinets to IanB's place leaving most of my other project 900ss in the garage to be relocated. Funnily, i got to ian's place and he a 900ss frame on the floor and bits of 900ss all over the place - just like my Garage! :)
I've still got a shitload of stuff in my garage to shift. I think I've got 3 sets of 900SS bodywork plus a set of half fairings, a couple of cafe racer type fairings, seats and spare fuel tank etc etc.
After that's all sorted, I've got a large 4 bed house to sort out before 27th Jan :D :D :D

Training Ianto's running contacts....

The bottom 2ft of the plank is a different colour and the dog must hit it in competition or you get faulted.

This vid is perfection, rear feet split and hitting right at the end of the plank, now to get this transferred to doing it that well at other training venues.

This is the most frustrating thing I've ever trained a dog to do.

Another blue sky day here. Snow is good - patches of ice starting to show through, so by the time I restart full time work (thursday) I probably won't like skiing so much!! LOL

But I went out with two friends today for a half day ski. Tomorrow we are heading to Les Arcs to ski. I haven't been there to ski since my first season when I met up with @Jody - first and last ski over there in 11 years!!

Here's hoping tomorrow is good and not a total leg killer - cos I have a lesson on Wednesday morning, so need some leg energy left for that!! LOL :D :D

I'm flipping knackered now. Had physio after skiing and he fixed a couple of things - including releasing a muscle he says he hasn't ever had to do in his career!! But, it has suddenly been used as I now have the strength to use both poles when I need to push myself/skis along the flat bits. But that muscle hasn't been required for years cos I didn't have the ability to use the arm like that before!! LOL LOL

Been wrapped in a duvet with hot water bottles on achy bits - going to sleep in a minute cos I need to be up early. My friend is staying in a chalet on her own. The chalet is run by other friends of mine, so me and the other ski buddy, Stu, are heading there first thing to have a small(ish) English breakfast (there might be bacon!!) with Becky and then get the first bus to the bit of resort that has the quickest route to the Vanoise Express to cross the valley and then to Les Arcs to go play!!!! :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

For the first time in eleven years, I went to ski in Les Arcs!

Started early with breakfast in a chalet down the road - one of the people I went there is staying at the chalet, so I asked the owners if Stu and I could join her for breakfast before we set out!!!

Full moon at sunrise!

Little bit busy on the way over :(

Same mountains on the other side of the valley, different perspective!!

There's a guy out here that makes patterns in the snow - he walks and 'draws' the design!! Simon Beck is his name. We saw this on on a lake - must have been there a while as the ice crust on the lake is starting to slip :o

I've heard people mention the Aiguille Rouge for years. Not the easiest run apparently. But, we weren't aiming for it!! LOL We didn't start at the top of the run (apparently that is REALLY narrow!!) but the girl we were skiing with suffers from a sort of panic when on a narrow run with a cliff style drop on one side!!! So, it was a very slow ski down!!

Image

I can't remember the name of the little goat thing local to here. But I now know how big it is!! LOL

Image

This is the cable car we crossed from one resort to the other on. Pretty amazing. Gave me the heeby jeebies cos it seemed to be having an issue. I'm ok with lifts and cable cars when they are ok. But this one made me feel a bit like I was in a lift, and not working properly made me a smidge queasy!!

Image

But the view is amazing!!

Home again

Now I'm totally wiped out and have a big start to the day tomorrow!! I have to walk for about an hour to then ski down to Bellecote to do First Tracks. And then head back to Plagne Centre ASAP after First Tracks to be able to meet my friendly instructor for a lesson!!! Bloody hope my knees hold out! LOL LOL
