On our little gang's off-roading days down south, we usually leave the vans in a place half a mile up the road from Loomies, and when the weather's good usually finish the ride with a pint or two in the garden of the West Meon Pub at the A32/272 junction and it is ridiculous most of the time if it's a week-end day- a constant stream of loud piped bikes bouncing off the limiter through the gears away from the cafe and the lights there in all directions.
I love the sound of a nice engine on it but it certainly brought it home to me how tedious and just shit really it would be to live anywhere like that, and also how much money it could generate for the local plod if they had the resources/ could be bothered- I'm surprised they don't do it more as you really can hear them coming for miles, just shouts " nick me" to me....
