Bike aside, I always wonder why people get near to the end of the project, then stop and sell it after the main hard work is done?KungFooBob wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 8:42 pm WTactualF

Probably as either it has problems that they can't sort, or just they finally come out of their bubble and realise what they have created is is really shit I suspect!

Re: Ebay 'WTF' bikes
I sent the guy an ebay message saying 'What have you done with the frame spar? What's holding it all together?'
This was his reply:
it has a 2inch 3mm curved box section welding over the top of the engine from the top seat rails to the stock and then gussets welded in
Some photographs of the welded in section wouldn't have gone amiss. That is surely most people's main concern.

You can just imagine the conversation with the insurance company - "Are there any modifications to the vehicle?"
Blundering about trying not to make too much of a hash of things.

Looks uninsurable.

Yeah, probably. At the very least you'd need an engineer's report, and I can't see any engineer of any repute putting their name to that.

And really shallow pancake filters which I doubt would be good for the carburation, 'cos that curved section is where the air box would normally live.JackyJoll wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 4:11 pmIs it the grey bit in this pic?mangocrazy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 3:52 pm

I'm at a loss as to why he did it in the first place. What has actually been gained by chopping a lump of frame spar out?

Maybe he wanted to make it lighter like KFB's Hornet?mangocrazy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 4:35 pm I'm at a loss as to why he did it in the first place. What has actually been gained by chopping a lump of frame spar out?

Nik Samson had a similar front end on one of his bikes. It certainly looks better from the bare side!
The owner looks like a character, judging from the stuff at the front of the house.

The front pushrod tube is visible the second photo.
And it does appear to be a Triumph engine with a BSA gearbox.

Re: Ebay 'WTF' bikes
No, it’s a left foot gear change 750 Triumph engine/gearbox unit.
Loads of pointless shit stuck on it, like the tubes on top of the head and the extra points cover thing.

Re: Ebay 'WTF' bikes
It's just popped up on my Friendface.
If you do FB and want more pics...
EDIT:
Ok the link doesn't work, I think you need to be a member of "sell or swap motor bikes and parts" group to see it.
It is indeed listed as a 1976 T140 750 Triumph... in Scotland.
£6k!!!

Re: Ebay 'WTF' bikes
Just been looking through Ebay for a old XT600 to canibalise as I plan on rebuilding my old XT again.
This came up WTF indeed!
Not sure it's the right bike to convert into a Cafe racer.
Have a look on Ebay for more details...
