Looks really bad. Which it is.

At the time said to Mrs irie that if I could've I would have sat with her to comfort her.

Absolutely shocking.

According to one of our local MPs:

“The prime minister has already apologised for briefly attending the event, and wishes now he had sent everyone back inside to continue working.”

Was this the event where 100 people were invited? If so, presumably not working.

More lies ... ?

Thing is, as more and more conservative politicians nail their colours to the mast they set themselves up for a massive fall later on in the year when the party gets shot of Boris.
They might just find themselves out on a limb.

Lends support to the suggestion on some of today's front pages, that the outcome of the enquiry will be a few slapped wrists.

I'm not sure how that will play out in tbe long run when more and more corruption is brought up.
Once it's obvious that a few of them are either habitual liars or defenders of them the whole lot are tainted.

I seem to remember this happening at the end of John Majors stint and that didn't end well for him either.

I meant that they thjnk it will all be ok, so a bit of toadying won't do any harm.

But I'm not sure the electorate will be so forgiving.

Oh, you mean like Barry Gardiner and the Labour party getting big payoffs from someone with known links to the CCP?

Cuts both ways.

Be interesting if we ever knew how all payments across the parties balanced out. Anyway, ut's hardly as if influencing Labour MPs is going to have a massive effect on government policy, is it?

I think the parties are down to stupidity and a dash of arrogance rather than corruption. That’s probably one of the reasons that I’m not bothered.

The wallpaper thing was uncomfortably close to cash for questions,

However, I think Boris will ride it out. I don’t see any Tory front runners vying for the job. I don’t think anyone wants it at the moment which will play a big part in how much he’s pushed.

But I'm not sure the electorate will be so forgiving.

This. I don't doubt that little will happen within the party etc. However I really really hope that the electorate remember that they had to stay home, couldn't go see dying family/friends in the last hours, couldn't attend funerals or celebrations etc.

TBF, I have my doubts about the electorate - and as others have said, there isn't a huge range of great or even vaguely good candidates. But I do so hope that the electorate takes more notice this time. Services etc being decimated only causes those it affects to vote (yes, we know that this affects everyone, but the average man in the street seems to think it's not their problem - until it is and then it's too late); but maybe this time with all the fallout from Covid, lockdowns, the heartbreak from lockdowns and restrictions, just maybe there will be a reaction to shit politicians

Now all we can hope is that there is a half decent few to actually vote for!!

This ;)

Not liking the actions of one party may not be enough to swing voting substantially, if the alternative isn't attractive.

However, if combined with an element of tactical voting towards any close alternative candidate (in majority), then the protest might have a cumulative effect.

If every political figure is asked to step down for lockdown beaches then Boris' problem is solved.

That's exactly what will happen if operation 'Save Big Dog' goes ahead, with what has been predicted as a night of the long scapegoats.

Of course, this is only if the Sunday Times can be believed.

So the "VIP lane" for PPE contracts which often went to people who donated funds to the Conservative party has been found "Unlawful".

I'm not sure if that means someone ends up in deep shite or not cos with the current state of corruption within the MET I have my doubts about their will to prosecute the government on any laws.

Part of me is amazed he's still there but part of me expected it. I think the parties won't be his final downfall.

The Conservative Party must want to get rid of him ASAP, he's doing them so much damage now.

The blue media are gradually abandoning him, they tend not to do that until it's a done deal
