Arse buckets: New rear shock needed

Post by Mr Moofo »

According to TF tuned my Cane Creek DB is fucked - the air canister shows signs of wear etc ...
New air canisters are available - maybe the end of this year!
So multi adjustable at every level - but made of cheese
I need a 190 x45 rear shock - as bulletproof as possible. Suggestions please...

Oh arse.

Since going coul I've been happy, less to go wrong I think.

Mine is the Marzochi Bomber CR if that helps.

Bummer, my Enduro used to eat its CC inline, despite it having the modified internals. The Fox X2 isn't much better, I don't think the shocks like the side loads the trunnion mount places on them. Sorry, not much help.

Had a long chat with a guy at TF Tuned. Good thing was he thought it was a rocket shock - so 200 x 50 , not a 190x45 - that means he does have a new air can , so all is good.
But he did say that Cotic Rockets are going though air cans at a rapid rate - so hence the stock issue.

Also talked to Cotic - who said that coils cannot be used with Cotic frames ( or rather shouldn't be).
They suggest Fox DPX or a RockShox DLX
(TF Tuned were not flattering about RS rear units)
So it appears that it hasn't failed this time ....

I suspect it's to do with not being able to get the rising rate required unless you buy a rising rate spring!! Most have a linear spring and the frame will probably designed with the ramp up of the air shock in mind.

Yeah I hear you. I do wonder how many of us in the real world would even notice or care at our skill. Assuming both were set up correctly, would we, hmmm
