Re: What have you done today thread?
I finished a couple of dishes of Chinese takeaway this morning. Then went to the valley to clean the inside of my minibus. Drove to Courchevel to drop of Chinese takeaway, then a different part to pick up some Russians going to Grenoble - private flight you know
The other girl doing the job took a different route to the airport which was interesting. The same distance but you seem to be going to Lyon Airport, not Grenoble!! LOL
Also, when we were loading people and luggage, the guys in the group were loading the suitcases. I said I felt I should be lifting some but that they looked a bit heavy (the guy was making a meal about it!! LOL) and he continued loading but said "no. I'll lift the luggage. Women are for organising - and driving (realising that both drivers were women!). Men are to do lifting. Women don't do lifting!!!"
Kinda sweet in a sexist/chauvinistic way! But to be fair, I'm much happier lifting the luggage back out than putting it in!!!
It's been snowing all day. So I'm gonna wait and see tomorrow and when it stops snowing I'll head out to try and find a piste or two! LOL Sunshine from Tuesday

Not so much today but last night and now tonight. Baby sitting this little shit Bailly.
Wife walks him now and then for a customer who is in her 80's. She got offered lunch today in a posh hotel in Edinburgh so we took the dog so she could have a nice day out with her daughters. She phoned us at 9pm pished and all apologetic at the time. As we were just back from a walk its decided he stays another night. Mu poor cats are up the wall and you can see my poor old Rottie under the cover behind the chair

Re: What have you done today thread?
It's 2 weeks since I mangled my finger and been resting it since. Not much pain but want a perfect recovery.
Was dreading looking at the pool but when I dragged the cover off it wasn't as bad as expected. Bottom was light covering of dirt and algae. Would have been a disaster in summer with 2 weeks of neglect.
Can't Vac the pool as it will put strain on my hand and get it wet.
So just 'swept' the floor with 10' brush to agitate the crud and algae. Gave it a shock and put the pump on for 24 hours. That'll do the trick until I can Vac it properly.
Was 23c and so inviting

Get yourself a 'Limbo'.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Have been working on a service for Sunday. Went for a short ride on the Triumph and had to head home in the rain, but well worth the hassle. I do enjoy riding this bike. Also trying to wrap up an assignment that is due on Tuesday next week and I have a few hundred words to go and way to much referencing to do.
Plumber is here sorting out leaking taps and rubbish shower unit. Thankfully we are getting it all sorted without me touching any plumbing!
My son is down with Covid at his halls of residence in Portsmouth, thankfully he was double jabbed and is not doing too badly. Got a delivery of food sent to him from Morrisons, so he won't be hungry.
Waiting for daughter to come home from her mock exams at college. Will make her a nice mocha coffee as that will help her recover.
Getting ready for a funeral tomorrow. Have another one on Friday and Tuesday next week.

Broken a neighbours tool store when I slipped onto it fitting a new fence panel (have go and own up later) and yes I damaged the new panel.
Went to the Dentist and found out he is retiring, so it's see what quality the "boil in the bag" Dentists the corporation that has bought him out use and then go private.
Got my motorbike all muddy.
Broken my bicycle frame.
I think I should be paid to go and stare at the Russian troop build up on the Ukrainian border.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Been busy the last few days oop north at DVSA site in Chadderton doing my dreaded CBT1 instructors course over 2 days. It has a huge failure rate on the first attempt and you are only allowed 2 attempts at it in 12 months before an entire year wait for the next one so safe to say it comes with a lot of pressure to get through as its the step to the next ticket which is the DAS instructor on bigger bikes.
Got put with a couple of other instructors and we stay as a 3 carrying out lessons and supervising each other as it we are the boss of the firm assessing our employees. Not fun at all and a bit of a head fuck.
Finished yesterday afternoon and by the time everything was written up it was 1600 before we were taken in 1 at a time and given the news. Out of 2 groups of 3 we had a 66% pass rate which is very high and thankfully i was 1 of the 4 who passed (one lad was shitting it as it was his second attempt)
whoop fucking whoop
I had my Fazer in the back of a van as its a fair old trip for me and weather Sunday on way up was shit over the Pennines. I was going to drive back Tuesday but after the lack of sleep for the previous few days as not able to switch off i found a Premier Inn, had a big meal and a few pints and slept like a baby. Drove the van back today and now back at home and feet up and chilled and happy i dont have to do that again
Technically i can now set up myself as an Authorised Training Body and just do CBT training and Renewals

I did First Tracks this morning - AWESOME views. Then did a short ski attempting more improvement - man my legs ache!
Then did a 5 hour shuttle bus shift over in Les Arcs and made some office folks laugh - I think I brightened their day rather than them laughing at me!! LOL

I did the 2 days cbt followed by the half day DAS the following day a few years ago at Cardington with another instructor from the school I worked at.
It was a tough 3 days, probably the most stressful thing I have ever done.
After the first couple of hours, the assessor had us doubting our own names. They twisted everything you said and done.
Out of the two groups, I was the only one that passed the 2 day cbt in my group, my mate and another 1 guy passed in his group. Everyone else went home without their downtrained tickets.
Luckily myself and mate both passed the1/2 day Das the following day and came home with both certificates.
Until you actually go through it you don't really appreciate how tough it is and failure rates are very high.
It also lets you see how well or badly prepared other candidates are.
Good luck with Das when you do it. I found the 1/2 day is a lot easier.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Glad it wasnt just me that wondered "wtf am i doing here" at times. In all honesty i had 1 really poor lesson i did which i knew myself and why i fucked it up but the rest i thought went fairly well but, as you said, the assessor is always looking for any slight omission or phrase and will grab it and try and turn it into a huge mistake. I get why they do it but it does make you doubt your own abilities unless you keep your head in check and realise you do actually know what you are doing.Big Red wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 10:22 am

I think we were all well prepared and thought we were at the same level but as the days went on you could see the cracks in the armour appearing. The other guy in my group that passed along with me was a similar style as me and we got on well. The third was completely different, knew a lot of theory but got flustered on delivery and on supervision just attacked the lesson without mercy, which didnt go down well at all with us or the assessor. I have a feeling that the downtrained ticket was pulled there as well judging by their reaction leaving the debrief.
I am looking forward now to the DAS as everyone says its a lot less stressful and you have confirmed that as well, so cheers

If I remember right I think there was about 4 of us in each group.
It was a mix of guys from other schools and guys that had paid to be on a course to get trained for the assessment. I think these had just come out the army and they choose this route.
The level of training and preparation both myself and my mate saw across the 2 groups was actually embarrassing, and we actually felt quite sorry for them.
The assessor was running with this making them look even worse, then when the roles were switched we had to point out and bring up there faults and shortcomings with there technique as well or be marked down for not spotting them. It was overall quite harsh.
Not a situation i would choose to do again though.
I am sure you will find the 1/2 day DAS a lot easier and quite enjoyable.
