BT can't manage decent broadband here (30Mb tops) so I signed up to a full fibre service that became available.
Happy that I would finally be free of BT's complacency I just got an email from the new people saying there would be a hold up because BT just buried the existing cable in the dirt and didn't bother with conduit.

Mortgage refused because I have a "stipend". The fact that I have an 85% deposit means nothing? Annoying, now my wife will take out the application instead of me and that is fine, but her job is less steady and we move in 18months and she will not be earning then! All levels of stupid. But we can pay it all off in 10 months, so I guess we just get a loan and get the house sorted.
Proverbs 17:9
One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.

When I used to finance used cars, you could never get finance for Vicars and armed forces. Churches and married quarters were houses that went with the job. Surprised that still exists tbh! Hope you get something sorted.the_priest wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 12:21 pm Mortgage refused because I have a "stipend". The fact that I have an 85% deposit means nothing? I'll take a wild stab at that being a crude play on the name Novak.
Is it safe to assume that the cancelled Czech doesn't bother you? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-59910838

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
I've not been on a for a wee while so there's some catching up to do.....
I'm working in a ski chalet again this year. The family were due to come out on the 26th, but then the French said no Brits, so half the family came out by PJ on the 19th.
On the 22nd the second oldest son is complaining of feeling unwell for the past couple days, he insists "it's not covid" but I make him do a covid test. Positive. That's him locked in his room for over a week, "missing" both Christmas and his birthday. I feel bad for him, didn't get to ski last year, locked in his room this year!
The day he's finally allowed out, his father tests positive. So he gets locked in his room. Father is not quite so well behaved, plenty of evidence that while he spends a lot of time in his room, once everyone is out of the chalet, he goes out for a wander. Not too much wrong with that until you realise that he's going into shops while he's out!! He's also in the habit of leaving his bedroom door open and utilising his office in the next room.
5th Jan, I go the the chalet at 16hr for my shift. Father isn't even pretending anymore, he's sat at the dining table having some snacks and playing on his phone. It was only when the chef arrived and made a sarky comment that he actually went back to his room (the chef knows him a lot better than I do !). Later that evening, I'm feeling rough, I've had a slight head cold and a bit of a sore throat for a couple days but we test everyday and all clear. I've not had a day off since the 17th December so am probably just run down. I take a test home with me and tell the chef if I feel bad in the morning I'll take a test before coming in. No prizes for what happens the next morning! Yep, I feel shit, I take a test and I'm now positive
So that's me under house arrest for a week? which wouldn't be so bad but as I say I've been working shitloads recently and was very much looking forward to getting out on my snowboard next week and having some free time! Instead I'll be stuck in a 16sq m apartment being continuously disappointed by just how shit most the stuff on netflix is !
Also BMP recently- Targeted Ads, it's all clever stuff, they target the Ads to what you want, what you buy and what you might like. So WTF am I getting adverts with low prices for nice clothing only to discover that when I click the link "ohh that's the kids one, the adults one is 3 x the price". targeted ads my arse !!

I'm heading to 1550 tomorrow after lunch. Shout if you need anything dropping at the door - can do a shop in SuperU (or somewhere!) before midday and come up to 1650 before I do my pick up. Let me know xJody wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 8:31 pm So that's me under house arrest for a week? which wouldn't be so bad but as I say I've been working shitloads recently and was very much looking forward to getting out on my snowboard next week and having some free time! Amazon affiliate links on bot created websites.
I often turn to Google if I want to get ideas for something and look at other people's successes and failures. Most of the search results say something like "You must have this, here are my top ten recommendations". Those recommendations are links to any old amazon tat which is mostly rubbish.

People whilst sitting on the train who insist on having a very loud mobile phone conversation via speaker phone , why? The whole carriage does not want to hear your personal details . Currently drowning her out (well trying to) with head phones. Apparently she has a migraine coming on……..
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

That annoys and mystifies me. Calls were always private, not public.MingtheMerciless wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 6:11 pm People whilst sitting on the train who insist on having a very loud mobile phone conversation via speaker phone , why? ParcelFarce.
Booked an Express48 delivery online on Monday. ParcelFarce says Express48 is "a great value service if you have a less urgent parcel that must be delivered within 2 days".
Printed the label and took the parcel to the Post Office on Tuesday where the nice lady said the parcels had already been picked up and it would go the next day. No problem my daughter in law's birthday isn't until Sunday, it'll get there on Friday. It could even be a day late and it 's still OK.
According to ParcelFarce's website, the parcel is currently in the Medway Depot "Prepared for delivery".

Planning departments that have spent over a year planning a job and it’s not until it’s been setup they discover that it’s incorrect meaning that a revision is required and paperwork checking and reissuing (by muggins)

It's one of the things that I've noticed about English people since leaving. So many (too many) think they are so effing important that no-one else matters. IME it's these same muppets that think the gov't are watching them, because they believe their pathetic little lives warrant watching.Yorick wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 6:18 pmThat annoys and mystifies me.
