Noisy pipe radars are go...
in France for now.
For me, two words come to mind, MISERABLE BASTARDS. with not a lot to worry about.
Radio 2 had a discussion about it this morning aswel. Some of the moaners said they revved their bikes instead of using the horn, so what.
Personally, I love the sound of bikes or cars getting hammered on nearby fast bits. It doesn't hurt me, so what's the problem. Chain saws, strimmers, lawn mowers, the same.
I CAN understand the sound of Lancaster bombers rumbling overhead, the decending bomb noise followed by the explosion and carnage resulting but a bit of pipe noise for a few seconds, FFS.
You get the picture.

Says it's targeting roads with a limit of 50km/h at 90db. Would happily have one on our road. Even noisy bikes wouldn't trigger that unless they were caning it.

Re: Noisy pipe radars are go...
I like the noise of a decent bike at full chat, or a Merlin playing up in the sky, ..........
BUT I do get pissed off by bikers and barry-boys who just keep keep driving round to impress their mates with the noise. FFS, my previous bike would do 140 mph and sounded great at full chat, but could equally well sneak around quietly in town. Bring on the 'noise radar', virtually all standard bikes will pass the test without a problem, and only the idiots who waste their money on expensive noise-making accessories will get done.

Re: Noisy pipe radars are go...
I agree - Les Miserables Bastards.
The trouble with some of these laws is that in the name of fairness they try to catch everybody rather than the ones frequently causing the problem. Typically the ones causing most of the problems either can't or won't pay the fine (or are unreachable in the case of vehicle crime) so you're just getting the easy collars.
I'll take my chances, I don't go out very much these days anyway. And the Le Plod I meet are always very complimentary about the terrible machinery they find me on.
And the French really hate unfair laws - it'll be easy to mobilise them into rioting.

Mmm, pick a busy bike road on a sunny sunday and it can be a bit of pipe noise for a few seconds, followed by more pipe noise for a few seconds, followed by more pipe noise for a few seconds.... all day long.Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 2:19 pm

I live close to the NYM and the Helmsley road can be a nightmare sometimes. I love bikes but I'm not sure I would like to live on that route. As usual with these sorts of things, bikes taking the piss are just going to ruin it for everyone else.

Sunday mornings at our house are ace. Loads of bikes with noisy cans thrashing them on a few bends then up the long hill out of town.

Blanket ban on high pitched high revving IL4's should be on the books.

The ones moaning about motorcycle noise are usually the ones oblivious to their own noises -

Have you confused me with someone else? I live 30 miles from the A272, if I can hear them then they're really loud!PitaNaanRoti wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 5:50 pm Surprised Weeksy hasn’t popped up to moan about the A32 and A272 yet……

Me maybe
On our little gang's off-roading days down south, we usually leave the vans in a place half a mile up the road from Loomies, and when the weather's good usually finish the ride with a pint or two in the garden of the West Meon Pub at the A32/272 junction and it is ridiculous most of the time if it's a week-end day- a constant stream of loud piped bikes bouncing off the limiter through the gears away from the cafe and the lights there in all directions.
I love the sound of a nice engine on it but it certainly brought it home to me how tedious and just shit really it would be to live anywhere like that, and also how much money it could generate for the local plod if they had the resources/ could be bothered- I'm surprised they don't do it more as you really can hear them coming for miles, just shouts " nick me" to me....

Re: Noisy pipe radars are go...
I've had a few noisy bikes over the years but I can totally understand that not everyone wants to listen to my bikes as well as every other dickhead hooning about.
For me nowdays stealth hooning is the way forward and its legal pipes wherever I can.

Not here but on STW - seem to recall your fevered muttering about “loud pipes”weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 5:56 pmHave you confused me with someone else? Re: Noisy pipe radars are go...
I don't see the point in them for sure. People just do it to be dicks like they were still 17. No one needs more than 200 bhp, so I don't get the flannel of needing to free up the bikes power etc. So the only reason is for noise.PitaNaanRoti wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 8:08 pmNot here but on STW - seem to recall your fevered muttering about “loud pipes”weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 5:56 pmHave you confused me with someone else? I guess some do it for looks, I can kinda understand, but you can still do it quietly if you try.
My bikes stay stock, so I'm not worried about this
