Tail i'm not massively worried about. They don't really much improve the look of the bike on this one, most in fact seem to make things worse making it look like a hatchet job. The only one that really interests me is

https://www.newragecycles.com/Yamaha_XS ... xsr-fe.htm

But i also think that's a bit too extreme for me. The R&G one that Rusty has, isn't bad at all, but again, i'm not seeing a massive issue with mine as standard.

Black ceramic downpipes/system and it all disappears into the bike. Very tidy OEM look.

I hope its improved since I bought it a few years ago? I did some headers and it just burnt straight off at the cylinder head.

On a non-exhaust related note I just saw Phil Seton post about an MT-09 he had in for software upgrades and tune (guessing they are basically same bike here?) - nearly 130 rwhp and 66ft/lb of torque, with mucho smoothness too.....

Yeah same... But, whilst that sounds great, if i wanted more power i'd have a 1290SDR. At times i'm not even convinced i want 119 at the crank lol... let along 130 at the wheel.

I can see the pipe paint ending in tears, possibly after every ride. 🙁

That tail tidy link looks a bit tacky to me.

Never ridden a XSR but with my F8R the remap wasn't about power, but smoothness. The added midrane was just abonus for me really.

That's a serious amount of HP.
You sure that a certain Leicestershire based tuning firm haven't had a go at it?
Nobody I know has seen more than 120hp, so finding another 10 ponies lurking around is good going.
The mighty Ivan claims 116 and 65 for akra shod and ecu tweaked bike.

Nope, that's a Seton tune and set-up on a DynaPro dyno so good figures. He's consistently getting 204 - 206 bhp from 2020 R1's. He's got to be one of the top Yam tuners in the UK.

I've looked at the dyno chart and there's a huge leap at 9750, a suspiciously big leap. He's found at least 8 more hp than anyone else!
If he's not messed with the figures then fair play, he's a genius.

NOt the most exciting day of "mmmm" but interesting to me anyway.

Removed the screen, i'm getting a chunk of turbulence so thought i'd try without the screen
Bought some R&G fork crash bungs and engine mount bungs
Removed the tip from the XSR900 to fit to the MT09 exhaust, can't believe i never thought of this sooner
Took 3 clicks off the front suspension, it was feeling too stiff on the road after I put Silverstones settings on it.
Took 3 clicks off the rear too

So

Screen off, makes it worse.... GOOD screen actually LOL
Exhaust tip doesn't fit, completely different mount holes
Front and rear feel a lot nicer on the road now :) I'm much happier

Mr W, are you keeping the pillion pegs on or looking to streamline the rear end a bit?
I have a set of Gilles OE PPC-04 passenger footpeg cover with less than 200 miles on them, so basically mint!

Pillion pegs are useful for strapping bike down in the van, so weirdly, they stay on my bikes... I'm not that bothered by them myself so happy for them to remain.

Thanks for the offer though.

SO i've been weighing up the potential plans, still on the exhaust thoughts here.

The ceramic coating im really struggling with as a concept, just quite expensive for what it is.... But in the grand scheme of things i can see it potentially happening in the future.

Aftermarket exhaust, i'm not quite sold on them yet but not quite 100% against them, but i'll need persuading to spend £600-900 on it.

So what i've done is gone out and bought some heat resistant exhaust paint. Worst case scenario, it's rubbish and i then re-fit the MT-09 exhaust and it's cost me very little in outlay. Will it work, i dunno really, i'm sceptical, but won't hurt in the slightest to try and find out. Having the MT-09 one covers any issues as it's really only a 15 mins swap.

I'll be properly gutted if this end up being rubbish. It's not taken me forever as such but looks lovely as it stands.

At least I know it can be made nice now. Even if I go down the ceramic coating route. I'll leave it overnight and then fit tomorrow as it's due to rain.
