Quiet day today. Cooked yellow fin tuna steaks dish for dinner and have a glass of Cotes du Rhone to go with it. Gone done rather nicely. Finished sermon for Sunday and will continue on assignment due in two weeks...

I got up early and walked up the mountain a little way. Not far as the friend I went with has had covid and been looked in, I mean isolating! So she wasn't as keen to go far

Probably a good thing cos I worked today and now feel totally knackered!! LOL

Watching the sun rise on NYD beats being out at midnight with all the drunks!! LOL

With a bit of luck there'll be a full moon on NYE this year and I'll be fit enough to walk up - watch the fireworks from the top (3 valleys and all of La Plagne!) and then ski down in the moonlight!! LOL Got a year to get fit!! (Well, just under a year!! LOL)

Finished drinking at 7am. So drunk I can't even begin to put into words.
Met @G.P and the lovely Mrs GP for lunch and tried to make conversation. I was so so dead by the time we finished.

Yup. Having operation Wednesday to fit a plate and screws.

I was in bed early(ish) on NYE, well before midnight anyway, so I was up at 5.30am on NYD, woken by a whopper of a thunderstorm right overhead and torrential rain, within an hour or so my pool was flooded over, the garden was flooded and the streets were a few inches deep. The pool is now minging, all the run-off water from the garden has run into the pool, so it's a nice shade of brown/green.

We dashed over to the yacht club, ate bacon butties under the veranda and then went to check on the boat, all the drains were closed off, so I had to sort that out and let all the water out of the cockpit. Followed by a lazy day, then back over to the yacht club for a steak dinner, then a night in front of the TV.

It hasn't stopped raining since, it only rains like this every couple of years but when it does we get lots of it.

My Eldest in on a posting in Bahrain, H said its been pissing down there too and was slioghtly less smug than usual about the weather!

Today has been odd! Went to pick up people for my first transfer - not there. They'd cancelled when the Brits were banned but their holiday co didn't tell the transfer co!! Oh well. Quiet drive to Geneva to pick up people from a posh hotel by the lake and take them (and their loud/squeaky/screamy/princess daughter - son was fine!) to Tignes

Traffic on the way out was awful. But kind of to be expected cos although it's Sunday, it's basically the Saturday transfer day (everyone leaving after new year). So I took a back road which was very little and twisty! LOL But fun

Coming back was just weird - SO MUCH TRAFFIC!!!!! But all still leaving! I don't think I've ever seen so much traffic so late in the day on any transfer day (well, without the 'aid' of a shit load of snow!!). Bloody glad I didn't have a late transfer! LOL

Got home and had pizza - only cos the family I dropped in Tignes gave me a ridiculous tip!! So, treat time

Now watching Dr Who (on Prime) and contemplating using the step ladder to go to bed very soon!! LOL Working tomorrow, but hopefully not for so long

Did some training on Saturday with one of the other instructors to brush up on a few things but was having problems with my right ankle after some sort of infection causing me to limp more and more to keep the weight off my heel

Sunday spent most of the day at A and E trying to figure out what was wrong and long story short was an infection that has mostly cleared as well as a problem with the tendon at the back of my heel so left there on crutches with strict orders to rest it completely

Today sat on bed watching crap on Netflix wondering how long it’s going to take to heal as I have training and an assessment planned for the weekend and beyond

Taken delivery of a fence panel which I then had to cut into two parts, fit with extra bracing so I could replace a couple of 1/2 panels in the garden. Washed the motorbike. Off too work tonight.

Drove to Portsmouth to drop son at university halls. Did a shopping trip with him first to make sure he has lots of food for the coming two weeks. Just one thing less for him to worry about and we know he has good stuff to eat.

Back home with no issues. Traffic was light and sat at 70 all the way home. Sat with the wife for a bit, then hiding in my office thinking about the funeral I have on Thursday and sorting out contacting a family for a funeral I am taking on the 18th.

I have to stand in for a minister who has had an emergency operation for a detached retina, so need to prep a short homily for Sunday's service, but that is not a hardship.

Felt a bit of a prat.

Went to hozzie for x-ray and blood test before my op on Wednesday.
The cute lass asked me to stand in front of the vertical board. Strange I thought but couldn't get my hand into right position.
She gestured that it they wanted to x-ray my chest. Thought she was a bit thick so showed her the cast on my arm

The boss man came in an explained that they always do a chest x-Ray before a general anaesthetic. Oops.

The cute nurse was secretly smirking

Hey, we can't all be the same Proper winters and proper summers ROCK. One of many reasons that I won't ever live in the UK again!! LOL

I like snow and I like winter if it's somewhere that you get proper seasons, where you get a nice fall and then a proper white winter, but I don't like the 6-7 months of grey skies and drizzle that you seem to get in most parts of the UK, it's not one thing or the other and it's miserable.

The UK is miserable in summer and winter because it doesn't have either in proper form!!



And, to confirm my sectioning. I BLOODY LOVE SNOW! AND PROPER WINTERS!

I don't so much like the eejits that can't drive in it though. But that's only because my job is driving and often driving in snow!! LOL
