Re: Stealth Omicron
I saw you put that before but it seems like it's been rewritten by someone (a priest?) who wishes that was the story. Why would an ambitious king set out to show his subjects he's not powerful? The vanity version was documented 1000 years ago, when did this one appear?Horse wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 7:37 pmPerhaps not understanding Canute strikes again?irie wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 7:19 pm https://www.politico.eu/article/france- ... -year-old/
Emmanuel "King Canute" Macron strikes again.Children as young as six[/b] in France will have to wear masks outdoors and in most public spaces from Monday, according to details published by the French government Saturday.
In the story, Canute demonstrates to his flattering courtiers that he has no control over the elements (the incoming tide), explaining that secular power is vain compared to the supreme power of God.
Unless the post was intended actually to compliment Macron, noting how he is deliberately implementing a measure to prove its ineffectiveness?
Edit: I found this new version on christiandoctrine.com. I think they retranslated the original Latin and made assumptions they liked from it.
The quote
Says what he demonstrated, not what he was trying to demonstrate.Canute demonstrates to his flattering courtiers that he has no control over the elements

New variant makes more people ill more quickly
But not anywhere near so many people badly ill
But more of fewer still means several
And more of less ill means more mildly ill and more infectious means more isolating
Yada yada Nightingales Boris Cnut Macron Brexit Travel Hokey Cokey yada yada
How's that, all clear?

Re: Stealth Omicron
Meh.
Masks indoors in close contact with folk from different households was, and remains, a sensible idea. (Or masses of testing).
I dunno what age has got to do with it.
I do know what nationality has got to do with it.

Previously it's been restrictions imposed (eg red list) on visitors. But this is a bit different:

The United Arab Emirates has announced that it will ban citizens who have not had three doses of a vaccine against Covid-19 from travelling abroad.

In France masks are to be worn by 6 year olds.
In England masks are to be worn by year 7, typically 12+ year olds.
Yet another of your dumb posts, a timely remainder for me of why you deserve to be and remain on ignore.
Bless.
