What engine size/configuration suits you?
I like inline 4 cylinder 750s, I've owned a lot of them, I've owned or ridden most motorcycle engine configurations and I always seem to end up going back to a 750 inline 4.
I can also say that I really don't like 4 stroke twins, the nicest one I've ridden was an SV650, which was okay, but unexciting, the same goes for four stroke V4s btw.

Depends where I am riding, and how fast I want to get there.
For pottering about on narrow lanes a twin, or even a single is ideal. Small and light is good, bhp is whatever but not too much.
For cruising a reasonable distance a twin is fine, bigger will be more comfortable, and that will need more gee-gees. 75 bhp would do.
For crossing continents I would chose a V4 please. And 100+ bhp, 150 would be nice.

In-line 4’s for working on, twins can be a nightmare albeit still doable.
Has to be a litre for me as I’m a lazy barsteward and feel like a 600 is far too much work on the road, don’t mind them for the occasional blast (wife’s 600) but on the road and for commuting the litre wins.

I used to think that I only really liked inline 4s as I'd only had those and a 748 that I really couldn't get on with. However I've now got two ktms, a 990 and an 1190 and they're both epic engines that rev, pull hard and sound great.

I like a six cylinder, 3 litre turbodiesel. It's smooth and effortless plus it's got loads of gan in it. And it'll do 55mpg on a run. Better than a silly motorbike.

Flat twin Bimmer. Power delivery suited my riding.

IL4's for going fast
BIG V-twins for lugging a passenger and luggage out of alpine hairpins.
Singles for pootling to the pub.

Twin - V or flat. Love the wave of torque firing you out of corners.

I dunno,there's usually fun to be had with most two wheelers,like most things,the area of use will probably decide the type of bike.
For the road I love a 1litre ILF and Kawasaki in particular. Like Wull,I'm lazy and while I'd be happy enough with a 600 on track,I really couldn't be arsed with some revvy thing for road use.

I haven't ridden a bike that I haven't liked because of the configuration.
The Least inspiring was a Honda Hornet which didn't wake up until it has over 8k RPM on the clocks - Odd as I had a CBR600 which has several years older but had far more character. I love my Ducati V twins but also love my Triumph triple which just gives such easy progress.

Big IL4's (1100/1000) are fun, but feel lazy. Almost twist and go
Big V-twin (TLs 1000) - damn that was fun. Not really sure what made it better than the IL4's, but maybe I had to work more for the fun which made it better!

Some kind of small Ducati twin - probably haven't ridden it enough to know it well enough to comment. But it seem like a lot of fun - although not very fast!! LOL

I suspect I don't care what configuration/engine size - want matters to me is that I have a bike to ride. Anything is better than nothing!!

Transverse v-twin obvs but the strumpet's il3 has an addictive quality I'm not ready to give up on.
The xsr twin had an addictive roll on, roll off quality that will probably get tried again
