Backend Webserver Unreachable / performance issues.

Post by weeksy »

Yeah, i know, i saw it this morning too.

First email reply from the ISP said "please check now..."

But as still down.

Second reply after i told them was "can't see any issues"

but magically it came back to life.

First outage we've had longer than a couple of minutes. Weird.

ISP say, "all looks fine"

"Funny that how it's been down for an hour and right before you reply it suddenly comes back "

That sounds similar to the 'support' I received when my web hosting company was hacked, luckily only adding a "you've been hacked" page.

Response from hosts was to take several days to return the site to an earlier version. No, not the latest. "Don't you have a backup?" No.

Any ideas why and what we can do to stop this please? 3 times in 24 hours is quite a lot

Steve
Hello,

It's not possible to stop such reboots, The web-service soft reboots go when a site is added/deleted from httpd.conf as a service restart, to load new data for domains.

There will be someone on to you in the new year to try and sell you a dedicated web server.

I'm just waiting for the Nye influx of donations to run the site when everyone is drunk. I think I'll be up all night with my inbox pinging. I'll buy whatever they like then.

Does that mean that the more successful they become, the more likely it is to happen? [Hence the dedicated server offer?]
