My sister had the last Vespa 100 registered in the UK, it was okay to ride, the gear change is an acquired tasteMr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 9:35 pm I'd quite like a proper old school Vespa TBF. "Vespa" being the word for "Wasp" in several languages of course, proper buzzy ring a ting ness

So far none of em seem that bad.
Can't say I've got any secrets, bike wants or not.
Well, apart from the overweight amputee dwarf on a Harley porn websearch, not tellin anybody about that.

I always thought the Honda Valkyrie was suitably bonkers enough to secretly want one.
There I've said it, it's a relief.

Re: Motorcycling Secret Crush
I bought a new GPZ5 in 97 and after an initial problem with one carb, did 75k with nary a spanner near it. Sold it to another courier who took it round the clock. Now belongs to one of my ex girlfriends. The Spin Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 9:34 pm The KLE500 used the twin cylinder motor from the GPz500, and I always thought it would make a fun back lanes bike.
I had one of the earlier GPzs, and it was a nice little bike and surprisingly quick - 60 hp and 120 mph claimed. It was always said to be half the 1000cc engine. Handling on the 16" front wheel was interesting. On a smooth road it handled pretty well but it got lively over bumps. I well recall getting a bit enthusiastic over a rise over a dyke on Romney Marsh where the road on the other side turned about 15 degrees left, and I got the front airborne... when it set down again, the thing went into a slapper. I actually enjoyed riding it for moments like that, made it interesting.
People said the finish was poor, but frankly, it was better than the CB500S that was one of its contemporaries.
Sadly, the bike managed about 55-60 k and the engine grenaded. A magnet unglued itself from the alternator and destroyed that, and filled the engine with magnetic swarf. I decided it wasn't worth a tear-down and rebuild as I'd never get rid of all the fragments. What really annoyed me was that I'd just had the cam chain replaced!
It basically is half a GPZ1000RX motor. Lovely thing.
Useless fact, KLEs don't like long wheelies as it starves the top end of oil, I put a new head and cams into one as he blew it up doing mile long wheelies along Queens Road.

I guess mine is the 600 Bandit that so many people dislike.
I just found it a very efficient machine, just goes, stops, etc. I also love them aesthetically.

I've always been intrigued by these. Never rode one, heavy as hell I should imagine. But I would definitely like a few days away with one. Some cheap ones about aswel.

I like the original one and the later one with the straight side panels, but not that middle one.
I also not so secretly love the original shape Hornet.

I didn't realise people don't like 600 Bandits, nothing wrong with them, a lot of bike for the money, the early ones look the best.
There's a race series for them and they go pretty well, top speed is about the same as the FZR400 I had.

I was behind one in the queue for scrutineering and the bloke was chatting to his mate "Yeah this is the wet bike, I bought it last week for £600"

You could put a GSXR750 engine in one, so long as you painted it silver you wouldn't be able to tell the difference without stripping it.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Wed Dec 29, 2021 9:08 amI was behind one in the queue for scrutineering and the bloke was chatting to his mate "Yeah this is the wet bike, I bought it last week for £600"

Re: Motorcycling Secret Crush
There are casting differences on the heads, IIRC.
And it would be a ball ache to put the 600 heads on the 750 bottom end as they use a different cam chain, you been to change the sprockets.

The look the dog's bollocks. One used to park beside my Bonneville every day when I commuted on the bike.
