I imagine it's a bit of a lean angle monster. I seem to recall reading that having weight too low causes the front to push and makes it less keen to turn. But I may be completely wrong...

Was it Spencer's NR500 that had the fuel tank in the belly pan and it sloshing messed up the handling?

Yes, it was the first of the V4 2T racers where the engineers decided to throw accepted practice out of the window. Seem to recall he used the older triple quite a lot that year. They went back to 'normal' the year after.
