After digging out those images of the Britten yesterday I found these of a rebuilt DKW in the bike park at Jurby.A couple rode up on it,but I doubt they rode it all the way from Germany.
I think it looks stunning & I'm in no doubt that it's in better than new condition, but I never saw one back in the day so I don't know what the original mopeds looked like.Despite being a veteran of the 'Sixteener specials' I never saw a DKW,anyone on here remember them?
I think I'll put up a post with some of the bikes that turn up at the Classic TT.

Re: A pretty DKW
DKW motorcycles became MZ after the 2nd World War, I doubt if that's a DKW, the engine says Sachs.

If you're ever at a loose end in Berlin, the DDR Motorrad Museum will kill an hour or two.

The history of DKW/Sachs/Hercules/Auto Union is complicated and I have never bothered to properly research it, but…Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 11:26 am DKW motorcycles became MZ after the 2nd World War, I doubt if that's a DKW, the engine says Sachs.
The main DKW factory was stranded in the Russian Zone after the War and then produced IFA and MZ badged bikes.
There were many West German built DKWs marketed in Europe post-War. I haven’t heard of them reaching the UK
There’s no reason to think that bike isn’t a West German DKW.

Tis a very pretty little thing. Obviously treasured.
