Those pesky French have been at it again: getting ahead in safety tests. Have you seen the Certimoov ratings for helmets? They are a bit like SHARP tests, but with added rotational force The French ratings look like handy info, and they are even written in English. Merci Certimoov!

Maybe I'm using the site wrong, but they've only tested 29 motorcycles helmets and none have scored more than 3/5?

I read in Motorcycle Rider magazine (BMF) this month that the current standard, ECE 22.05, AKA UN Regulation No 22, is to be updated, coming into force in June 2023.
Maybe that French site has started using it for tests?

Doesn't necessarily surprise me depending on the criteria. If (as I believe they are) looking at things like head rotation, full face helmets are likely to have a negative effect on this. They may of course help to prevent your face being mashed, but some of us prefer to avoid the crash in the first place.

Motorcycle lids have been behind cycling helmets for years. The cycling helmet industry appears more innovative, and cycling magazines have written more about rotational injury than we’ve seen in the motorcycling press.
One lid – the 6D ATS-1R helmet – scored very highly. But it's disappeared from the results! 6D specialises in helmets that protect against these forces.

Protecting our noggins (ECE 22.06)
Does anyone know if Covid has delayed the new standard (22.06) for protecting our bonces? When are we likely to see the first lids that achieve the new standard? And how does it differ from SHARP?

As soon as manufactures make the change after publication (no idea how the June voting went), although there will be a 3 year transition period to allow old 22.05 lids to be sold.

G'day mate! Have you seen the MotoCAP-equivalent for helmets (https://crash.org.au/)?
