Re: In todays news...
Shock horror. Bradford has no curry houses.
I moved away in 96 but went back often, to see folk. Gradually seeing the demise of my old local pubs.
Asians generally lived near centre of town in the cheaper houses. But as the population grew, they moved further out, taking over neighbourhoods. Hence no customers for the pubs.
Chippies went the same way.
But a pal here who grew up near me, was over in UK last week. Adding a few more pubs to the list.
He also said that most of our fave curry houses have also gone.
All turned into trendy kebab houses. The young Asian kids don't wanna hang about in curry houses
It's all gone full circle

The staff in every curry house I've been into in Barnsley and Sheffield drive in from Bratford every night, they're often shipped in by mini bus.

All my pals knew somebody who was in the ground. Could see the smoke from miles away.
The town was very sombre that night. Pubs were quiet. Hit everybody hard.

I was trying to find out when that changed as now it's any Snowflake in many locations. The Met office changed it as many people were gambling on a white Christmas, did it happen to change the same year many Met office staff placed bets?Saga Lout wrote: ↑Sat Dec 25, 2021 11:52 pmIf it's not in London, it don't count.Felix wrote: ↑Sat Dec 25, 2021 9:47 pm No mention of white Christmas

Be fine in the UK anyway, its not (shouldn't!) be possible to touch live prongs with the plugs half way out.
But then again...
