Re: Stealth Omicron
I text one of my physios earlier as I'm going past the practice tomorrow and wanted to drop off some baked stuff
He organised a Christmas dinner last weekend for a group of friends that couldn't go to see their families this weekend (my physio's family are only a couple of hours away, so he was going to see them, but organised the dinner for 7 friends to be kind)
Only, one of them had been in contact with two other friends that have Covid. This person not only didn't isolate or test, he didn't tell anyone about the other people he'd been with and still went to the dinner
Now 4 of the 8 (including my physio) are positive and can't work or see friends (in the physio's case see family).
FFS - why would you do that. Physio has been so careful and was let down (in my view) by someone he calls (probably called!) a friend
And other people saying - just take paracetamol, you'll be fine / if you test negative before the weekend, go anyway / you were going to catch it at some point, so whats the problem?
FFS - people are stupid and uncaring!! He's not very well, can't see his family and yes, maybe he would have caught it, but to get it because someone else was unthinking/uncaring/selfish is pretty shit really. Especially as he was dong a nice thing for his friends and now can't see his family
I did persuade him to send me his address, so I can still drop off the baked goodies for him - and hopefully have a distanced chat (if it's not too cold outside!!)
But I'm so mad for him

I think I'm going to not watch any news or current affairs programs until the New Year, I don't think they're helping my mental health, and I can do nothing about the stuff they report, I'm going to have a Xmas of crappy films, computer games, mountain biking and hopefully sex with my wife.

How can you not find the Great Escape uplifting (apart from the bit where people get machine gunned)?

He hasn't for the last 40 odd years of me watching it, then follow it up with Colditz the Board Game (except none of my family want to play a board game based on WW2 POWs that takes hours)Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 2:34 pmPretty sure he's actually gonna make that jump this time.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 2:31 pm How can you not find the Great Escape uplifting (apart from the bit where people get machine gunned)?

I think this is wise. I’m off this week and have avoided ‘the socials’ as much too- Twitter is a nightmare for terror-scrolling and just making yourself miserable.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 1:42 pm I think I'm going to not watch any news or current affairs programs until the New Year, I don't think they're helping my mental health, and I can do nothing about the stuff they report, I'm going to have a Xmas of crappy films, computer games, mountain biking and hopefully sex with my wife.
My wife and I are currently working back from Die Hard 5 to 1, tonight it’s 2. Tomorrow is traditional DH.
5 is utter shit btw

Re: Stealth Omicron
I refuse to put on winter tires because:
• It’s my car, my choice, my freedom.
• The effectiveness of winter tires is not proven, except by studies carried out by the manufacturers (like I’m supposed to trust them).
• My neighbor Bob had an accident even after putting on winter tires.
• Some drivers are already on their 3rd set of tires, which proves their ineffectiveness.
• We do not know what the tires are made of.
• The tire manufacturers scare us with winter just to enrich themselves.
• In fact, I read on the internet that the tire giants invented snow and spread it at night when you sleep.
• If I have winter tires, the government can track me in the snow.
Educate yourself, open your eyes, stop being sheep!
This year, I say no to winter tires!

I haven't played it since the 70s, as a 10 year old I thought it was great, I suspect it won't be so great for a 54 year old, a 52 year old and two mopey teenagers.Felix wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 4:05 pmNever seen that in years. Ain't played it since the early 90s and struggled to get anyone to play in my family. Waiting for my son to grow up just a tad more and he'll play it with me as he's world war 2 nuts.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 4:08 pmI haven't played it since the 70s, as a 10 year old I thought it was great, I suspect it won't be so great for a 54 year old, a 52 year old and two mopey teenagers.Felix wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 4:05 pmNever seen that in years. Mrs irie has three children and I have four, in the past we've both done every board game to death several times over.Felix wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 4:11 pmProbably not. When our offspring are around, after eating we sometimes play Jenga, fun for all age groups.
The only board game Mrs irie and me now play is Scrabble.
