The new shape CB1000R looks crap in the pics, but is really nice IRL, it just oozes quality. Weeksy had a test on one and was gushing about the handling.

The new one is a fair uplift in power, circa 140bhp. Weeky rode one and surprised himself with how much he liked it.

My Dad has a pre-reg 2019 model he got at the start of this year for cheap. Think he paid about 8.5k for it, not sure.

Yeah this....Dad's one looks like a generic jap bike in pics (except maybe the SSSA) but up close it feels like a really premium product.

No, they look shit in real life as well, they're good quality, we'll made motorcycles with awful styling, Honda should have made the one that looked like a CB900F.

Anyway, new CB1000Rs are £15K, 3 year old ones are £10K, and that's round the corner from me where everything is expensive, so the depreciation on them is pretty bad.

Who's going to be the first one here to buy a battery bike and tell us all about it?

I briefly considered the Zero FX but their qouted range is 70 miles and in real life is closer to 50 which is exactly what my commute is, I’m not that much of a chancer so not really a goer and at over 10k there’s a whole world of bikes I’d rather have.

I too would like a Zero and if they brought in congestion charging for bikes and it was exempt i'd deffo go for one. I need a guaranteed 65 mile range though, but I think that may be possible with the amount of city riding involved with my commute? Seems like the grants are improving which may make the price more palatable...

I just did their [Zero M/Cs] assessment and according to them I need a Zero SR, which even in base guise is £18990 minimum. According to MCN govt has slashed plug in grant on these now, but Zero will give £1500 themselves. Whichever way you look at this, it's a chunk of change to go leccy and for that reason I'm (currently) out!

But in terms of performance, technology, suspension, brakes etc, it's a leap below the equivalent £17,000 bike.

Lets look at it as a commuter style then say an MT09, is HALF the price... brand new on the road. A Honda NC750X can be bought for £7500 new.. so £10,000 less.

Now i don't know how many miles it would take to get £10,000 back...but i bet it's a LOT...

Yup. Crazy money. I think my days of bike riding are definitely numbered and I'd have loved to be able to look back and say I had one of the first leccy bikes and I am actually really excited by the whole electric vehicle thing, but not at that price. May go the s/hand route I suppose?
