I think pharmacies also have them.

Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?
Our Xmas party....which was looking like quite a fancy shindig....waw cancelled today. Budget has been donated to a homeless shelter.
I was actually quite looking forward to it despite not really being a party person. There's a great number of my colleagues I've not actually seen face to face since the summer party
I'm trying to get my booster arranged now that its available to me. Seems like it could be fun!

Yeah our local Boots have them also. I only mentioned Hospital as some folk live closer to one rather than town centre for the shops and i was at a hospital tonight and noticed the pile of boxes at the door. Only two per person mind you

It makes you wonder how long we can live like this. If you had a bar or restaurant in a city centre you'd be weeping now. Busiest period of the year and everybody is cancelling. Who'd start a business now?
This quasi lockdown needs to be the last, as I feel the peasants could be more revolting than they already are.

It's a bit better here for bars as we sit outside all year round, so folk aren't so wary of crowded insides. When we dine out, we generally choose somewhere with outside seating as usually have the dog with us.gremlin wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 8:27 am It makes you wonder how long we can live like this. The mask rules are strict, but businesses are still doing OK.

Feel safe, or are safe?Potter wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 11:03 amIt doesn't need to be like this, it just takes some sensible rules to be put in place so people feel safe and things can carry on but with some sensible restrictions.gremlin wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 8:27 am It makes you wonder how long we can live like this. Give us a list of them then.... We'll see if we can find any issues in your version.Potter wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 11:03 amIt doesn't need to be like this, it just takes some sensible rules to be put in place so people feel safe and things can carry on but with some sensible restrictions.gremlin wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 8:27 am It makes you wonder how long we can live like this. Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?
I think that's the crux of it. If it was 6C your end at the min you'd have to not go or be inside whilst taking a decision on how many people there are etc and how comfortable you are with it. Which is essentially what's happening here. But's it's really hurting city centre places as their whole business plan only works when they are full. In the summer there was a load of outdoor seating going on and IMO was nice to do that, felt a bit more continental albeit with a big risk of rain. But now it's winter it's all to pot.

Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?
The impression I get from talking with people is that patience is wearing thin, but at the moment the masks, WFH, etc. is tolerable. Where people are drawing their own line in the sand is most definitely who they can and can't have in their homes again. Less so the closing of pubs and restaurants, though that would piss me off personally.
This where the contradiction begins: we've been told not to work with our colleagues, but feel free to go to a party with them.
Wear a mask in the shops to buy some drink, but then go meet your family for extended Christmas drinks with hugs and kisses all round.
Add to this the final straw of political hypocrisy that's doing the rounds and you can see why people are just plain tired of the whole thing.
Why did we bother with this vaccine rollout if we're going to shit ourselves as a society everytime a new variant gets discovered? This ain't going away. We need to learn to live with.

Yup, not just here either. Daily protests in Austria and the recent riots in Holland. That's about tougher restrictions but similar sentiment.
I was mentioning to my Ma yesterday about the so called stereotypical British 'Keep calm and carry on' attitude. It's not been apparent much lately.

The trouble is we've got a headless chicken for a Prime Minister who's more bothered about media opinion than running the country.

Isn't exactly what the vast majorty of people are doing?
Hence the government's using omicron as leverage to get people to roll their sleeves up for the jab.

Once the proles get annoyed about things they start to vote in extreme parties who ride the wave of populism and then fuck everything up coz they're just one-trick ponies.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 11:57 amThe trouble is we've got a headless chicken for a Prime Minister who's more bothered about media opinion than running the country.
I'm no flaky lefty, but what the Austrian's are proposing, ie mandatory vaccinations under pain of large fines, seems very, very draconian and worrying to me. I see the Germans following suit and then that'll be the European precedent set.

Perhaps one is voluntary? I need the wages, I don't need to party.
Perhaps some do?

You're the one who keeps telling us you have all the ideas... you're the one telling us the rule are wrong...Potter wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 1:16 pm
Mate how many times are you going to badger me to death on this, I can't help it if you can't read what I'm writing.
You could shut the pubs, you could make people wear masks until they're seated, no standing at the bar, you could remove mask use altogether everywhere - that's just for starters, basically do anything other than this half arsed illogical stuff being done now, I've already typed all this.
So tell us how to improve them.
You can't walk into a meeting and say "your ideas are all shit" without having better ones ?
You've given us 1 scenario above but 3 possible different solutions within it.... That's not simple rules, that's as half arsed as anything else written.
So give us better.
You're the one banging on about it, not me... i'm just asking you to improve it.

good? are you ? are you sure....
You seem to be avoiding proffering your solution to the problem for hospitality, pubs, cinemas, offices, postal services, delivery drivers, take aways etc etc.

I don't read the news. Ever.... I don't really read this section. Apart from when people are trying to wind others up or something catches my attention.
