If they all died today would they be replaced with better?
Some weeks ago on here I did point out that every second person you meet in the UK is a knobhead.

The pool to to take decent politicians from is drawn from society and if at least half the population are knobs then you’re on a loser to start with.
Is that 52%? ;)

They seem to have moved their focus away from Brexit and onto covid denying, rights-for-whites and simple anti Greta Thunberg memes.

Coming so soon after the submarine contract switch, there'll be much spitting of foie gras over this news ...

The Australian Defence Force will ditch its entire fleet of troubled European-designed Taipan helicopters a decade earlier than scheduled, replacing them with new Black Hawks and Seahawks imported from the United States.

George Carlin said it better:
“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”

Your observation applies to all walks of life. The people who rise to the top should be part of the long tail at the high end of the bell curve. The problem is that the long tail on the other end of the bell curve also get to vote.
I’m used to being around switched on motivated people, anyone that is a knob gets weeded out quickly and sent home. So you might find arrogance or indifference but very few actual knobs because they don’t pass probation and get a ticket home.
You can't just let any goon on the tools. They have to have the right ticket.

NatWest Bank fined

Two hundred and sixty five

!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-59629711

NatWest has been fined £265m after admitting it failed to prevent money-laundering of nearly £400m by one firm.

A gold trading business suspected of money-laundering deposited £700,000 in cash into one NatWest branch in black bin bags, a court heard on Monday.

A criminal gang deposited huge sums of cash across about 50 branches, prosecutors for the UK's financial watchdog said.

Ms Montgomery added that the cash did not even fit in the branch's floor-to-ceiling safes.

One rule designed to flag suspicious activity was disabled by the bank because it created too many alerts, "so the bank decided it should be deactivated", Ms Montgomery added, while NatWest also recorded cash deposits by Fowler Oldfield as cheques between 2008 and March 2017.

The National Crime Agency also raised concerns at one point because of the high number of Scottish banknotes being deposited in England, the court heard.

And a NatWest cash centre in north-eastern England raised queries about Scottish banknotes, saying that they had a "musty smell", suggesting they might have been stored rather than in normal circulation.

Un-fucking-believable.

I can't fathom that level of incompetence. There must have been collusion at the branch or higher. Alarm bells should have rung very early on.

Criminal charges should be brought. The Senior Manager Regime was applied after the crash, meaning senior executives can be put inside if they fail in their role. Time to put it into practice.

I've said it previously, but the only people being policed in this country are those willing to be policed. If you want to live outside the law you can do so with impunity as it's easier for the Bill to pick the low hanging fruit.

Crashing while drunk and coked up, on a DD driving ban so no license or insurance. How the hell does that get a lighter sentence than speeding on a motorway???

and now HSBC.

Only a piddly £64m

Best PR quote ever, mind: "In a statement, an HSBC said: "We are pleased to resolve this matter""

That's the equivalent of bank robber being given a twenty year stretch and telling the judge he's pleased to have resolved this case. PR at its finest.
