Excellent news. You need to tell the government, they’ll be thrilled.

I’m assuming you have got the evidence to back it up?

Where's the evidence of people being ill with omicron, WHO have said the symptoms are mild.

There are some initial indications that the symptoms ‘may’ be milder than with delta. If that is the case and by being more transmissible than delta then that could be a very good thing as delta will be outperformed by a milder strain.

However, hospitalisation and death rates are increasing in South Africa and there’s not enough data in other countries to reach a solid conclusion.

At the moment nobody knows.

Omicron is spreading rapidly and will push up hospital admissions, Sage says

Fortunately, Omicron does not appear to cause more severe disease than its Delta counterpart and there are signs that it may even be milder. Unfortunately, a more infectious, less severe disease can still wreak havoc. As Joseph Stalin used to say, “quantity has a quality all of its own.”

Yep, keep spreading the doom and gloom with no evidence to support it.

Makes other people get symptoms though...that's the problem. You're still a spreader. Typhoid Mary and all that.
How can other people get symptoms if there aren't any, or if they're mild is it worth worrying about?
You can be an asymptomatic spreader of a disease, just like Ms. Typhoid. She was so good at it that she became the name for an unwitting disease spreader. Well, she wasn't actually that unwitting by the end of it, but still...

My point is more that Omicron isn't hurting anyone, so why worry about it

I think that's still TDB?

If its half as deadly but four times as common you've still got twice the problem right?

The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine modelling suggests, best case with current plan B rules, low vaccine resistance etc, approx 25,000 Omicron related deaths in England by the end of April. It may not be ultra-deadly but it isn't exactly a nice cuddly little virus that you want to invite in and give it a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Mrs Potter went to Asda to get milk and something for dinner, had to wear a mask :D

Omicron my arse.
I used to love English pubs, but they hold little appeal now.
I'm over in UK in March for a wedding, so no doubt I'll be in a few pubs to see pals down in Cornwall.
Hmm

Perhaps you should wear a butt plug?

So you think it’s unwise to be cautious until the facts are known?

I think it should be up to the individual what precautions they take rather than a bunch of rules that are not needed, for instance there's no way I'd go anywhere crowded currently, but I don't need or want the government to tell me what to do.want

Also I think it would do everyone good to be a bit more positive and a lot less defeatist, with this current widespread attitude to life and death this country wouldn't have lost WW2 because we'd never have fought it because someone might have died.

I'm happy to hear alternative, brave and daring good old fashioned methods for defeating covid.

Here's two for starters
- sneak into its castle in the back of a cart carrying wood, and then leap out! Taking it by surprise!
- go right up to it, but wear a different hat, then leap out! Taking it by surprise!

I'm amazed the government, or other patriots, haven't tried this yet. No doubt 'the science' has poo-pooed it.

What have government have told you that you can’t do?

It’s quite ironic that you’re complaining about the restrictions that you are imagining while actually avoiding crowded places while I see them as common sense but am happy to go to crowded places (last one was the bike show on Thursday).
